Just so we're clear--what's YOUR definition of CURE time

Ok so my take is cure time is the time from after you buff off the product to the time that it has flashed off it's oils/fumes or w.e. you call it...

but some people seem to consider it the time from when you apply to the time it's ready to buff off AND the time until it's another coat readY?

I thought the WoWo portion was the setup time?

so it's separate from the time that that you apply the product and wipe it off? (because I understand some products you have to let it sit in for a bit to let the product bond to the paint)

I don't think wax got a cure time. It's the pure sealants or sealant hybirds (mixed with wax) that needs cure time for bonding. Wax only sits on top of the paint. Sealant bonds down to the paint. That's why you need curing time.

Granted, but at what point do you consider you start the timer when you refer to curing?

Like After I buff off my collinite 476s is when i'll start the curing timer...the 5-30 minutes I let the product sit before buffing off (after application) I consider setting/setup time.

Alexshimshimhae- I see it the same way. Setup time is before you buff it off, generally the time it takes to pass the finger-swipe test.

Cure time for me is the time it takes until the product is "stable". Sealants cross-link. Wax-sealant hybrids probably do something similar, I dunno for sure. And "waxes"...well, I dunno what goes on there either, but doing a second coat after a week is usually different from doing it after an hour.

But FWIW, I think "straight, all-natural waxes" are pretty few and far-between and the folks who use those (e.g., Zymol Vintage) often rave about how great it is to "layer them" with pretty minimal wait/"cure" times :nixweiss Which is all kinda pointless to discuss unless you plan to buy some super-expensive wax and play around with it for hours ;)

Sealants- Let 'em cure before you layer on more.

Waxes- Just do one thorougly-applied, even coat unless you're gonna do some kind of spit-shine or maybe the "Collinite Sandwich".

so for buffing- Finger swype test(see if it easily comes off with light finger swipe)

Cure time- after buffing off (I'll give it 8-24 hours to be safe)

Still thinking about putting down 915 on a car soon...but wanted to see how the 476 was first..today was the first storm since i put it down. The BMW seems to bead well.(haven't moved it since i detailed it though)

My brothers car i see dirt spots where the puddles formed...the windshield seems to be streaking a bit...my brtohers car got home dry-- so i can't say for sure how the beading was (my brother's car i haven't given it time to bond really...)
