Just realized something...

i was using megs #16 that i got off ebay and thought it was really good. using it on a fairly dark blue metallic motorcycle. previously i'd been using megs nxt paste and thought it was really good. How this happens i'm not quite sure, but i tried the nxt again for the first time since i got the #16 probably 5-6 months ago. I was surprised at how much better it not only looked, but it's lasting and rejecting dust much much better. A week later it looks like i just waxed i, while #16 made me want to reapply every 2 days or it looked like it was gone.

i just have to finally come to terms with that old adage that says if it ain't broke don't fix it. That stuff is great ! I have to be honest and say i literally find it much better than 316. like i said, i don't know how that happened that i felt 16 was better. but i have often noticed when trying something new it can often seem hard to get a realistic comparison with your old one till you go back to the old one. thats when the truth often seems to become clear. Anyways, i'm sticking with it. Good stuff.

dazco- I'm a firm believer in not fixing that which isn't broken, and different people are gonna like different stuff.

That said, I'm *VERY* surprised that the NXT lasted longer than the #16, or/and that you felt you needed to redo the #16 so quickly; very different from my experiences to say the least! But it's how stuff works for *you* that matters :xyxthumbs

yeah, i'm surprised too. Just this morning i was marveling at how the thing still has that just waxed look. It seems as tho 1 of the reasons is the NXT appears to reject dust while it got dirty fast with the #16. But the 16 jsut didn't look as wet and deep either.

dazco- I'll agree on the #16 not having much depth; I'm using it on silver but I used NXT on a darker color with very nice results.

So you found #16 to attract dust?

Dust attraction in any product pretty much excludes it from me ever purchasing it (or continuing to use it if it is something that I already bought).

I don't know if #16 attracts dust, if NXT rejects dust, if dust simply sticks easier to #16 and not as easy to NXT....i just don't know. all i know is with NXT it seems like that initial glow and cleanness is there after a few days and with #16 it seems like a day later the glow is lessening and dust is accumulating. Even when it gets dusty with NXT a ride quickly blows it off, so maybe it IS that it doesn't stick to NXT as easily.

On a side note i tried opti seal last nite and it did deepen it ever so slightly compared to NXT. However, i'm coming to believe the Triumph's water based paint has a sort of shine limit which is as deep and wet as it gets no matter what you use, and that the degree to which its shines can be accomplished with less then high end products. So nxt gets it to that point and after that anything i use no matter how much better than NXT will not allow it to go even better because that's the paint's limit as to how deep wet and shiny it can go. one reason i tend to believe this is i have a product that does miracles to my car, yet on the bike it works great but also never takes it to such a amazing shine as it does on my car. so it may be the paint. as to #16, i dunno. that to me seems like it just may be a forum feeding frenzy and placebo effect. I think NXT looks very obviously better.

Any chance this was one of those "bad batches" that were sold on ebay? Some were separated and very soft, and M16 should be very hard in the can. I'll agree that NXT looks better on darks, M16 is my go-to for silver and white. If you want great looks on dark, M26 is much better than NXT. The durability though, M16 is much better than NXT.
