Just Purchased The Danase Water Devourer

Wow! I guess that's why it cleans so well too. I'll soon be needing to upgrade my laundry equipment. Any problems with the really hot water shrinking stuff? (I can't afford for my stuff to get any smaller since I got a bit bigger over winter. :o) Sorry to the OP if I am too far off topic.

Yeah, the really hot water will shrink anything made of 100% cotton. Even if it's been washed/dried before in hot water/air it'll still shrink them.

I have one too but was afraid to use that cycle since you can't dry it on high heat. So no problems with the integrity of the MF?

I just use the regular Automatic drying cycle with no problems. I also have a drying tray that sits inside the dryer. It makes quick work of drying buffing pads. And no, no problems with the integrity of the MF's. I even use the sanitize cycle on my MF covered foam applicators with no problems.

Thanks, SuperBee...I've been wanting to get one of those machines for a while...after I figure out what I'm doing with my outside faucet and soft water, etc...since that piping goes through the laundry room.

The new front loaders are great... I justified the one with the more expensive Sanitize option to the wife by saying "but honey.. we have two kids! We need the sanitize cycle." All the while thinking "This is gonna be great for my detailing MF's...."

I have one of those new front loading washing machines with a Sanitize cycle on it. It has a built in water heater that gets really hot. It takes 2.5 hours to wash a load on that setting. Using regular Tide HE detergent with 1/2 cup of vinegar, the sanitize cycle, and an extra rinse, my MF's come out completely clean. Even my MF hand applicators that are saturated with HD-Cleanse come out with *zero* HD-Cleanse residue on them. Not even any brown color at all.. they look brand new. Even my wheel cleaning MF's (that are black after an ONR wheel cleaning) come out looking new.

I had some MF's that stopped absorbing stuff when I had my old washing machine, but I haven't had one yet since I've been using the sanitize cycle.

Have not read any micro fiber retailer that recommends washing them in anything hotter than warm water.

"Wash in cold water only. Warm water can be tolerated, but hot water cannot. Polyester and polyamide both shrink in hot water. If you wash in hot water the fibers will shrink and the towel will not perform as intended."

There's been quite a few threads about MF care around here. Including one that recommended boiling MF's in order to restore absorbency. I've been using the sanitize cycle on my MF"s for just over a year now, and I love the way they come out. Soft, clean, and very absorbent. Yeah, they might be a *tad* smaller than when they were new. :)

There are many different opinions on how MF's should be cared for; this is just mine and what works for me.

This debate comes up alot here. But DFTowel is a vendor that actually suggest washing MF towels in hot water and disputes David's claim. DFtowel has been in textiles for over 15 years I believe. Results are what matters and I have better results in hot water (130 degrees F) than warm or cold. I never use a hot dryer, but hot water in the washer is just fine.
