Just ordered a supercharger...

Mine is the D16Z6 sohc VTEC. I've seen a few civics and del sols with the above spec engine producing 200 or more hp, but just don't know exactly what mods it took to get them there. I'm currently researching the parts I may need and I've got a shop I go to that works on Hondas in, out, and through, I'll get some input from them as well. It's definitely going to be a work in progress. Not trying to hijack Mosca's thread or anything.:)

You want more power - save your money and invest in a B series. Trust me - it's not easy, cheap, or fun to make SOHC civics fast.

You know, I had taken that into consideration too. I could get the B16A2 from a 99 Si and build it from it's base 160hp or I could just end it all with a B18C5 DOHC 197hp which comes in the 95' Intergra Type R. From what I've read, both are a clean swap besides the OBD wiring...and of course the main obstacles, finding one in good condition, and the price....

Has anyone in the US started going supercharger and turbo route. Supercharger to get things rolling and then turbo to finish things off. I have seen an article on an early 80s Ford Fiesta (small Ford in Europe) that had this treatment and was knocking out just over 300bhp (I know not very useful without engine size, specs etc - but for reference stock one of these cars would have been about 95bhp). If anyone is interested I can find article and most engine specs.

That's called twincharging, and people have been doing it for a number of years. The most commonly twincharged car that I know of is the MKI MR2 - there are factory SCed models, and plenty of twincharge kits that add a turbo to the car without removing the supercharger. Not many people go this route, because it doesn't help overall hp #s, and a properly sized turbo will give you boost only a couple hundred RPMs later than a supercharger anyway.

Also, of interesting note: The Lancia Delta S4 was the only car to come twincharged directly from the factory. It was designed at a Group B rally car in the 80s and released for homolgation (sp?) rules)

You can also get a B18C1, which is a GSR motor - 170hp, lower compression (better for turbo) and less aggressive valvetrain (will need to be upgraded), but it should be cheaper than a B18C5

Sorry, the z6 is an awsome motor to turbo. You can run about 200-210whp without having to rebuild the motor. If you do your research and have a sound motor to begin with, 200whp should cost you around $3000. Come over to www.automotivetech.org and check out the turbo and civic section. And yes, you will have to register.
