Just ordered a Makita BO6040, question...

After a lot of research, I decided to go with the BO6040 over the Festool Rotex 150 and Flex 3401. I really had no idea how much more correcting power the BO6040 has over the Flex 3401(almost 200 max RPM's). The Festool was a close second, but considering the BO6040 spins at slightly higher max RPM's, it's not as loud, and $220 cheaper, these were good enough reasons for me.

Anyhow, my question, has anyone had a problem with the BO6040 welting or destroying pads as a result of poor heat transfer, or too much heat?

I have been interested in that BO6040 and have followed every thread with intense scrutiny, I've never heard of pad problems due to the machine. I have read about people using pads that were still damp from cleaning and had issues with the velcro after they got warm.

And - where did you order your Makita from?

Thanks for the info. It will be delivered Friday. I bought it from toolbarn for $276 shipped to my door. :buffing:

Ditch can you make a quick video and link me to it or post it here once you get a chance to play with it?

I am debating buying this and want to see it in action!

Just tried it for the first time. In rotary mode, the Flex 3401 is much smoother, IMO. The pad seems to want to skip, never had this problem with the Flex 3401. Also, in random orbital mode, when using a 6.5" pad, even with just a little pressure on the highest speed, the pad stops rotating!! What the hell is up with that?? Do most not use random orbital mode with the BO6040? Thank God I have a money back guarantee on this!
