marring is very very small scratches, usually left behind by strong compounds. They could be very hard to see (especially on white) you could use a magnifying glass and halogen light to see this. Sometimes it's visible by eye and appears as haze, or a dull surface.
If you have marring, I would try propolish or SSR1 on a polishing pad.
I have used 2.5 w/orange followed with PwC w/polishing pad with good results on my white acura.
I have also used 2.5/orange followed by ssr1, with two coats ex with good results.
I have also used 2.5/polishing pad followed by PP polishing pad, then K-SG.
First inspect your finish, then use appropriate polish and pad. Do test section before going over the entire car! this could save you steps, not to mention give you better results.

My last step was SSR1 with with white pad.
Surface looks godo and feels very smoothe.
I think I ll do another pass with PB PP and with polish pad before beginning my Zaino steps..
