Well that volvo I did last weekend certinly stirred up the soccer mom craze....they all saw the volvo "shimmering" (sorry no pics, forgot the camera(:angry :angry :angry ) ANYWAYS, they all want their BURBANS DONE:shocked :shocked :shocked ! MAN, these things are HUGE, but im sure i would get compensated appropiatly. What im asking is what would be a good price to charge? I gave the volvo a great deal ($75, family friend), but these burbans, there gonna take me ALL day and then some...should I charge by hour or flat out? I was thinkin ill do AIO, SG, full interior detail, and dress all exterior trim/wheelwells. (ill try to persuade some DACP action, but we shall see, ill really push for a claybar tho). Any sudgestoins? Thanks a lot guys

I get $225 for most SUVs. Includes essentially everything the vehicle might need except touchup paint or PDR.

As much as I like the Klasse Twins, it is not a practical choice for commercial work. Other "1 step" sealants are much more efficient, and appropriate, for soccer moms. I use NXT...

FWIW, my clients invariably want to know how much for a complete detail. They NEVER discuss techniques, and really just expect a very clean car.

I have very few options on my service menu... something to think about.

Do I sense that you might be 'afraid' to charge big dollars? Decide what your hourly rate needs to be (15-20-30-40?). Then multiply that by 7-8 hours. Do you use an extractor? Rotary, PC? Adjust $$ accordingly.

G'Luck!

I don't think $200 would be out of whack...hell, I don't feel $250 would be.

If they liked your work, they shouldn't balk at that price. Express to them how much more work their 'Burbans are going to be as opposed to the Volvo.

Also...Man, charge what the market will bear. Realize that your time and skills are valuable. If you charge them a given price, give them their money's worth, and you'll have a repeat customer. I realize that $75 for the Volvo was a "friend price." Consider that you'd likely charge around $100-$150 (depending on size) for that same detail with an average Joe off the street. How much more time would the 'Burban take? I think your target asking price is going to be $200-$250.

For a lagre SUV that would require a 2 step and full interior I would charge $200-250. It would take me between 4 and 6 hours to complete, depending heavily upon the condition of the interior.

I typically aim for $40 an hour.

FWIW, I would use meguiars speed glaze and top with NXT. My combo of chice for 80% of the vehicles that I do.

One word about discounts and being afraid to ask "high" prices. If you do a detail at a discounted or "low" rate once, it will be expected from there on out.

If they are taken back by your price, they should go to the local swirl-o-matic and have a full hack job handed to them at half price. They are not your target market.

Good luck!

I would definately go for $250. I have experience enough with Burbs, and Navs among other huge SUV's and all that work is definately worth $250!!

Yea, I have big issues with charging big prices....Im such a big wuss, Ill try and stick to "our" guns and charge 200ish, see how that rolls over, if not o well, I really didnt want to do the burban anyways...man, I CANT WAIT to get back home, there are so many benzies and bimmers I have lined up.....up here in farm land none to be seen...

I go to school in San Luis Obispo, My home is in San Diego, i guess i overexarated a little bit, there are some nice cars up here, I just dont have the connections right now to get them, kinda awkward approching an owner in the parking lot of lets say "ralphs", and handing him a card....o well, talked to my volvo client today, turns out her burban friends know lots of people with upper scale cars, so I'm gonna do a kickass job on those, and count on a nice referral...

IT all depends on your area again. Some people might know what the going rate for a detail is, but if ur established you can charge 250. Since the other people saw your work and loved it, that shouldnt be a problem. Here in PA the going rate is 165-175 anywhere around.
