dang... i guess i'm outta luck...

Not necessarily. You should be able to order it online and have it sent to you. I think one of the people involved with it is on this forum. If worst came to worst, you could even resort to snailmail.

They jumped on the, "Zaino is the greatest bandwagon", so they are O.K. now.:D

Actually, they started to get a lot more credibility when GeekySteve (one of the original members of thewaxtest.com) started posting here and earned the respect of many of us. :D

My comment was in jest and I hope everyone took it in jest.

The wax test is still just more opinions and you need to keep that in mind. Don't let it be the thing that causes you to change what works for you. By the way, I just bought some S100. Of course, the excellent review didn't have anything to do with the purchase.

I just happened to be in the Harley, (I ride a Honda), shop, (which is several miles away), and there it was. :)

Just to clarify the rankings:

Zaino was #1 synthetic and # 1 overall.

P21S was #1 carnauba and #2 overall. But if you look closely at the individual ratings, outside of durability which Z scored super high on, P21S carnauba beats them ALL on the individual rankings for the FIRST week (gloss, shine, slickness, beading...)

I was not that impressed with the slickness of my Zaino after the first coat, but now that I have five on the car, I can tell you P21S was never as slick. P21S after one week never beaded as well as Zaino either (of course, the surface under the Z is far less swirled than it was under P21S). It think it was fitting both products came 1/2, because those are the two I use!

Drewski,

Were there any rankings on swirl-filling/hiding ability? If so, how did some of the popular waxes here do?

Charles, I know it was in jest! :) But still, I wouldn't be surprised if you partially did feel that way. Zaino users (not the product...the users) always get a bad rap.

No, there weren't rankings on that, just amount of beads, bead size, shine, gloss, depth, clarity, reflectivity, slickness, color enhancement, and overall impression. At the beginning, they go into detail as to how they rank each one of these categories, and how they test each wax objectively for each.

The only thing about scratches were they noticed that the Zymol waxes all showed much more scratches than the others.:nixweiss

Their durability ratings were an average of all the testers results after measuring the amount of, and depth/diameter of the beads.:xyxthumbs

OutlawTitan, Blackfire only lasted five weeks and got a durability rating of 'C', and finished 11th overall. Collinite Marque d' elegance lasted the full eight weeks(barely) and got a durability rating of 'B+', and finished 9th overall.:xyxthumbs

Interesting. From what I had read on the forum, I was under the impression that several products didn't bead, but sheeted water. Evidently I was wrong again.

Charles :o

I don't have my Guru report in front of me (I loaned it to a friend of mine who hasn't returned it yet) but if memory serves me right only 1 coat of all the waxes was allowed. No layering was done. This may explain why P21S measured the slickest if you only waxed once. Also, no cars were used only test panels.

Again, correct me if I'm wrong by those who have a report handy.

Wow - I just got back from vacation and wasn't expecting to see all this.

We only applied one layer of each product to equalize the playing field. Multiple layers of a cleaner wax would negate each other, so effectively, they would receive only one coat when other products like zaino, klasse, etc would benefit from the additional layers.

Hope this helps. BTW, the Zaino panel just stopped beading when I got back from vacation (1 layer applied in October 2001).

That's interesting. Are the panels indoors or outdoors? If outdoors, what part of the country. IOW, what type of weathering are the panels subjected to?

Shipping would cost more than the report... :( oh well... I'll just keep an eye on this post.... :D

Outdoors - they've seen everything from snow/ice/sleet to 100+F weather, direct sunlight, shade, rain, etc.

That sounds like a good pretty durability test. Simulating real use for a variety of products would be quite difficult to do fairly and it would be quite expensive. If I recall correctly Consumers Reports did about the same thing when they tested car waxes.

Did you continue the testing of Souveran to see how well it holds up in high heat? I waxed a black Ford Excursion with Souveran 6 weeks ago and it is still beading very well and feels reasonably slick after I wash it. It is also driven a minimum of 85 miles each weekday (round trip from his home to office) and down to his ranch in south Texas every few weeks. He bought it in October of 2000 and it has over 60,000 miles on it, so it does get driven.

Also, I noticed you planned on testing wheel cleaner and tire protectants next. How about adding car wash soaps? Just a wheel/tire issue may be a little thin and testing car wash soaps may help fill it out some more. Just a suggestion!

I second this idea. :up

I'm trying to see how much the report costs to ship up here, but Customer Service hasn't gotten back to me yet....

I also bought the report and was I surprised!!!:shocked

Rain Dance finished ahead of my Meguiar's #26 Hi-tech.

They also never tested Meguiar's #20, instead they wasted time testing Lemon Pledge.

Heres the top ten:

1- Zaino (A-)

2- P21S (B+)

3- Klasse (B)

4- Armor All Protective Barrier (B-)

5- Pinnacle Souveran (B-)

6- Pinnacle Paste Glaze (B-)

7- Rain Dance (B-)

8- Mother's Cleaner Wax (B-)

9- Collinite Marque D'Elegance (B-)

10- Mother's Pure Carnauba (B-)

I don't know about some of these results????:nixweiss

Buy the report it is worth to have on hand for reference!!!

I still can't believe my Meguiar's #26 and I am also going try some of the P21S Carnauba. I like the report on it. :xyxthumbs

Collinite topped with S100

I already have S100(p21s), and just received my Collinite Marquis 'D Elegance, and was considering using it just the way you have....I havent used the collinite yet though...Which collinite do you have, and did you have trouble removing it, as the indicated in the report? Did the topper give the collinite a noticably deeper or more reflective appearance?

I certainly applaud the efforts of the testers, but in the end I still think the best tests are those performed on our own cars under real conditions, i.e. daily driving, weathering, atmospheric, etc. Heh, maybe there was a reason I used Rain Dance way back when on the old Oldsmobile and thought it was pretty decent! :p However after using Meguiar's waxes afterwards for years, I'm kinda surprised none of them finished ahead of RD or even the ArmorAll?! At the time, I thought I was making a progressive switch hehehe. Oh well, after using many of the same tested products I don't know that I would rank them exactly the same, but it's all based on personal opinion anyway, which is fine with me. I'm sticking with my current fav that I've used for a few years now, so can't argue with it's ranking. :D BTW, where's BF or Platinum?

:)
