Just got new wheels in!!!

Bang for the buck it's almost impossible to outgun the Ziex for an all season performance tire. We all have to weigh our priorities and needs with tires - if you aren't autox-ing or heading to the road course on the weekends, then why put up with the noise of many max performance tires, or the very short life? I think you'll be quite happy with them, especially once the rains come.

I have a set of these on one of my cars and have found that playing with tire pressures helps to get the most out of them. I run 3-4lbs more pressure in the fronts than the rears and it seems to really help with turn in. Of course, that's on my car, which is rear wheel drive, so your FWD Tiburon might be a different story.

Thanks Mike. I commute 80 miles every weekday so I didn't want a lot of tire noise. Pretty much the reviews on 1010tire.com made up my mind. I do go to the local road course every now and then but I never compete. I will play around with the tire pressure to see if it makes a difference.

I'm sure that's without tires. I believe he said he has 18s front, 19s back. That's not that heavy for wheels that large. My 15x7s are deemed "lightweight" by TireRack, and they weigh 18lbs per wheel.

18X8.5 and 18x9 is what he said in his post....the 18x8 version of my wheels only weigh in at 25 pounds. I thought maybe his, being AMG wheels, would be lighter. Not trying to start a fight just curious.

Around 22lbs...stock wheels weigh 23.6lbs. Not a huge amount of weight loss but they sure look better than what they are replacing.

Don't forget to factor in the tire weight also when putting new shoes on your car! TireRack lists tire weights now, by the way, and those Ziex are actually pretty light weight - another positive for them. I am often surprised by what TireRack considers a "lightweight" wheel though. The 15x6.5 Flik Fuels on my Miata only weigh 12lbs each, and the 17x7 Velox VX6r wheels on my PT Turbo are only 14lbs. I like lightness! :dance

This is all the photos I have so far...been busy. Trust me, there will be more to come.

Looks great, the wheels really fit the car :bigups

Now all you need is a full razzi body kit, and you'll be set..lol :cooleek:

No Razzi kit for me :grinno:

Right now I am worried about getting my calipers painted and possibly installing new rotors. After that, a set of Eibach Pro-line springs to clean up that wheel gap.

Just a little word of advice on painting calipers: I've done a couple of cars, the first one using the G2 Caliper Paint system that uses a hardening catalyst that you mix into the paint. It worked great, but it cost close to $40 including shipping. From a few other car forums I read a lot of evidence indicating that plain old Krylon or Rustoleum would work just fine. The clincher for me on this was a guy on the Miata forum who used plain old Rustoleum on his calipers three years ago, and he autocrosses his car a couple dozen weekends a year. No problems at all.

So, when I did the calipers on my Miata, I used some flat black spraypaint I had in the garage, sprayed it into a paper cup and brushed it on (after a thorough cleaning, of course) and haven't had a hint of a problem yet. This includes cleaning with various wheel cleaning products and brushes. Save your money, and get a huge range of color choices to boot!

Great looking wheels you have on a really nice looking car - you're still smiling, aren't you? :D

You know honestly Mike it hasn't set in yet that I have new wheels....its weird. At times I forget that I have them and I look at my car and go d**m....then I cant wipe the smile off my face. I guess since I always wanted wheels but never could afford them its just hard to believe.

Thanks for the tip on the calipers. If I go that route I should be able to get them painted this holiday.

I know the feeling. When I got my wheels last summer, I just couldn't stop staring at the car. It looked SOOOO much better with nice alloys, rather than the 14" steelies with the curbed wheel covers. I've always wanted wheels too, and I got some 17s for my Maxima, but I never got to put them on. I ended up cleaning them up real nice and sealing them, and then I decided to buy the Protege. I sold those wheels for more than I paid for them though! A little cleaning/shining goes a long way! :xyxthumbs
