Just got my car back from the body shop

They did a great job repairing the scratches but for some reason they buffed my entire car when they only repaired some scratches. I dont know how they did it but they left nasty swrils all over the car, along with some compound. Everything everyone says about body shops is true.
 
I can guarantee they buffed your whole car because they got overspray all over it and are unaware of a product called 'clay'.



I'd give them one chance to fix it right (and that means no filling in the swirls with a glaze) and then let them know you expect them to pay a detail shop to make it right if they can't.
 
I wouldn't give them another chance if you can do it yourself or take it to a place that you know will get it right.



Why chance them not doing it correctly again? That'll just get rid of yet another layer of clear.

I took overspray off a truck that was caked all over the roof and hood and all they resprayed was the driver's side of the bed.



Can you post some pics?
 
over spray can get everywhere, they may have also thought they were freshening up the vehicle so that all the paint looks "new"



id have a go myself or try to find a local autopian to help...you dont need them to take even more clear off

Modern auto paints are very sticky and they get all over the place. A friend of mine had the bumpers repainted on his Honda Accord, and after he picked up his car we had to clay the whole car. Years ago cars were repainted with lacquer, which you could wiped up very easy. It would just be a fine dust.
 
I put a glaze on the hood to cover it up but it still looks bad. I will get some pics up later. There are smears and rough spots that wont budge. I tried washing and detailing spray. I dont know what the **** it is.

The much larger problem is that most body shops are too lazy and unprofessional to properly tape off the car to prevent overspray in the first place.
 
I just got my car back from the body shop today . Overall they did a great job. I have to clay the car because they got over spray on the roof and trunk , what the heck they did it for a great price. My car needed a complete detail anyway.
 
I could have clayed it easy. But all these swrils and rough spots is much more of a *****. It was 300 to have 2 spots repainted.
