Just got all my new products, now how should I use them?

Well, I just got my 1z polishes, claybar, and Klasse AIO/SG, and I am gettin my PC 7336 in a few days. Now I need to know in what order to use them. I have some baked on water spots on my windows and roof, and some light swirls on the rest of the car, that you can only see at certain angles in direct sunlight. I was just wondering if my steps are correct.



1. Drive to car wash and Wash car with Meg's deep crystal wash

2. Drive home, park in garage and let cool down, then Clay bar

3. Apply 1z ultra polish to larger scratches using PC

4. Apply 1z paint polish to entire car with PC

5. follow up with 1z Metallic polish with PC

6. apply Klasse AIO by hand using WOO

7. apply Klasse SG by hand using WOO

8. wait 24 hours and apply a final coat of SG.



Do you guys think this sounds good? Also, what pads should I use with the PC for each step? Please help! Thanks in advance!
 
I'd like to see what one of the gurus on here has to say about this list. I have the exact same product lineup to use except for the SG. I have SG, but don't like it. I use the P21S Carnauba instead and it makes my black Expedition look so deep and rich it's sick.



I can tell you one thing that a lot of people are going to agree with. If you drive your car anywhere at all you need to rewash it, so I would say to wash your car where you are going to do the work and stay there, otherwise you are going to grind in the dirt when you start claying and buffing.



Another thing is, I don't know if you need all three steps of 1Z, but I'd like to see what someone with more experience with this line would say. I used the 1Z MP on my red Mustang to get some very fine scratches out from leaning on the fenders while working on it and it took them pretty much right out. I probably should have used the PP which is one step more abrasive but I wasn't sure what strength I needed.



I think if you post pics of your car you will get a better response to your thread too.



As far as padding, I would say start with your most aggressive and work your way down. I would start with an orange cutting pad with the UP and then white pad with the PP and AIO. Do the SG by hand, wet on and wet off no drying time.
 
Before using the clay bar, I would QD the car or use Poorboys Spray and Wipe. That would be to remove any dust before claying.
 
I'm not a guru but just curious to know why you are driving to a carwash and going back to your house afterwards when it sounds like you have a house where you could wash it yourself.



You definately need to rewash car after claying and before polishing to get as clean a surface possible.



Since you seem to be investing alot of money into this I would pick up a good carnauba to apply after a couple of layers of SG to get maximum results.
 
I think AIO is not meant to be used in a WOWO method. Its more effective by using it with the PC with a white pad, or orange if you need more cutting. SG can be used with that method. I usually get very good results by letting it cure 20 mins, second coat, then third coat next day. I need to try this WOWO methid on SG.
 
Washing the car and then driving to the detail location is not the best method/idea. However if its a problem look into QEW washing, run a search its been covered a trillion times. If its not too too dirty you can probably even give each panel a once over with a QD, without seeing the car though I cant tell, for now I suggest looking into the QEW wash method.



As for the pads, do the opposite of whats mentioned above. You seem to be somewhat of a novice. I recomend you use the lightest of the polishes and a white polishing pad to start. If that doesnt work then step up to the yellow cut pad and something with more bite. I dont use orange pads, I dont like them. I like to use the yellow for cutting and the white for polishing, orange pads attempt to blur the line, some love it some dont.



AIO is great by hand. I have seen better results though with a white polishing pad. I say dont be afraid to give the AIO a go with the PC, it will leave a very nice slick surface. Using AIO with a cutting pad is a no no :nono . AIO is a chemical cleaner, it contains no abrasives. Applying such a product with a cutting pad is only going to leave marring on the surface from the pad itself that would require polishing to remove. This is what we call, moving backwards from the goal. AIO by hand, or white polishing pad only.



Everything else seems fine. Just keep the surfaces your going to clay lubed well. The rest youll just pick up from actually doing it. Good luck. :xyxthumbs
 
Where did you guys find a yellow pad for the PC? I bought the set from Autopia and it only comes with three grades; orange, white, and grey. I like the white pad for pretty much everything but when I was using it to polish, I realized I needed a more aggressive pad and pulled out the orange which worked great, but did notice that there was a pretty big jump from white to orange. I would assume that a yellow pad would be between the two?



I've tried AIO both by hand and with PC, and would say to always use the PC. By hand doesn't even come close IMO.

all companies have different colors for their pads. It would be better classified as "cutting, polishing, and finishing". Some companies might have their finishing pad be black, while others would be grey... just take that into account



If im correct, the Lake Country White pad is similar to the Meguiars Yellow pad.
 
I live on a farm, so I can easily wash it at home, but the problem is that our water is TERRIBLE hard. I washed our combine here and it left so bad of water spots on the windows that we had to use a razor blade to scrape them off. I just wanted to avoid having to deal with that and driving to the local car wash, it's just over 11 miles away, and I live on a asphalt road so i can take that road all the way to town. Then wash, drive home, and use my CCD and QD it. But, i suppose i could try washing panel by panel and drying with my absorber right away. What do you guys think i should do?
 
dpreuss - In *your* situation, I'd wash it there, drive it home, CCD/QD it. Since you're gonna be polishing with the 1Z stuff anyhow I'd risk the marring from the CCD/QD before I'd risk the super hard water. But you could just as well jump the *other* way too :nixweiss tough call either way.



Use a polishing pad with the PC and the 1Z polishes, at least until you get familiar with this stuff. Consider the cutting pads to be a "last resort" item for use when all else fails.



Try to solve your problems with just the PP (multiple passes if needed), consider the UP a "last resort" product also. Work the PP pretty long at a fairly high speed. Don't worry about working it TOO long, worry about not working it long enough.



The MP should add something after the PP, it always seems/appears to for me.



I dunno if I'd use the K twins over the 1Z ; I'd probably top the MP with something like UPP or Meg's #16 instead. But it should work fine as long as you work the AIO enough to remove the MP's wax. AIO is't quite wowo, but it's close, and generally the "intuitively obvious" approach works OK with that product. Just remember you're using the AIO to clean off the wax from the MP (which is fairly good, sturdy wax) and you should be fine.



If something goes wrong, check with us before proceeding. Don't keep going and cause problems all over the car. Not that I expect any problems, but still...

CCD/QD is one method and im sure it will work great. You could look into Poorboys Spray and Wipe as well instead of a QD.



Unless your vechicle gets really bad with caked on dirt and stuff, you could look into using QEW. You only need a gallon or two of water, and you could use water that has had the minerals removed (the name excapes me). That could potentially be cheaper than going to the car wash.
 
Thanks everyone, I think I will just go with the CCD and QD method. I just have one more questoin, will Klasse AIO remove the wax that is in the 1z polishes? I want to use Klasse because I want the durability and protection that it provides. Anyone have any ideas?
 
I honestly don't know about the AIO/1Z. I've always used Menzerna's PF (as per Gonzo's suggestion) when following 1Z with Klasse. But I *think* it'll work OK.



Note that, IMO, the longevity of Klasse is somewhat dependent upon getting a few layers of SG on there...
