Just got a Pressure Washer ... How do I use it?

Birthday present from my lovely wife :)

3000psi/2.7 GPM.

I already ordered a foam lance.

My cars have clear bras and hardbody on them.

I have been using ONR up to this point, but want to use something to get nasty bugs and dirt off without rubbing them in.

I've been eyeballing some of the CG products like honeydew and their other PH neutral soaps and the Wolf's "Nano Bathe". I do want to maintain the Hard Body as best as I can. Probably would follow up with a good clear bra cleaner and ONR on the paint. -- but totally open for end to end suggestions.

Congrats. IMO, the faom baths are a waste of time and money. They do look really cool though. Adjust your pressure (upwards) so you can spray your hand and it not be extremely painful. It should sting a bit, but nothing more. Use that pressure and distance from the car. Rinse just using water and then wash normally.

Noting that I post the exact same thing quite frequently, I'll tweak that *just* a little by saying that clingy foam baths can have some minor benefit in that they can provide an extended dwell-time for the presoak. It's just that people seem to expect miracles, which aren't gonna happen.

I'm not expecting to not need to touch the car, but I do want to get off as many bugs and as much clay as possible before starting to manually agitate either with a traditional shampoo or ONR. Right now the rinse bucket is looking like an orange insect apocalypse.

VroooomCrash- Ah, we're on the same page. Yeah, I always think that a filthy rinse bucket indicates something needs tweaked. If bugs are the issue, you ever tried 1Z Anti-Inzekt? I thought it'd be snake oil, but it does work pretty well for me (gets the bugs without stripping the LSP), not that *it* works miracles either, but it might be a good intermediate step between the pressure washer and the regular wash.

I mostly use pressure washers for wheels, tires, wheel wells, engine bays, and really nasty floor mats that are almost destroyed. Usually removing bugs is more of a wash process and chemical type of job.

For bugs often I use 1:10 apc as a QUICK presoak, then follow with traditional wash or ONR. This is on clients vehicles though and I always follow up with an LSP.

Even if it is your personal vehicle and you strip the LSP, how long does it really take to wax or seal a bumper?

Luckily the bumpers/leading edges on all my cars are covered in xpel's magical self-healing film -- so prep on them is fairly minimal.

I was looking at the 1Z and CG insect washers. In the past to pre-treat really bad bug guts I've actually had pretty good success using P21s windshield washer booster diluted 1:5 (I was on a road trip and had a bottle of that and a bottle of ONR).

At least the option for my wife to get in a swimsuit for a foam party is still an option.

With most of my vehicles wearing many layers of sealant, it takes quite a while :D

And just doing "complicated" front bumper covers...well, it's not like I can do an acceptable job in 10 minutes or anything like that :grinno: I can almost rewax a whole Crown Vic in the time it takes to do the bumpercover on some other vehicles!

Eh, never mind me, I just have a thing about re-LSPing :o
