I just finished my first detail with Poorboy's Products. The car was a silver Lincoln Navigator. It was a lot of work, but I acheived some good results from a wash, clay, SSR2w/PC, PwC by hand, and EX-Pw/PC. I plan on putting on a second coat of EX-P tomorrow by hand. I have a question about the SSR2. I applied it using a polishing pad, but I had trouble removing surface scratches and smudges. Should I have used a compounding pad or should I step up to some SSR3?

Here are a few pics of the after.

With SSR2 and a polishing pad I have had great success with scratches and stuff on speed setting of 6 on the PC.

Looks great :bigups Did you work the SSR2 long enough? Unless those scratches were deep the SSR2 should have gotten them out. :dunno

I'd try a cutting pad w/SSR2 and work it longer. Then SSR3 if necessary. Gradual increments of aggressiveness is what I do behind my total amatuerishness.

I use a cutting pad when working with SSR2. I find that it works better at swirl removal that way. I'll usually use Pro Polish with a white pad as a next step. At that point, I know the surface is clean and smooth and ready for a number of great combos.
