Just did 2 coats of ZFX & 1 coat of KSG - Boy am I tired

I'll keep this short and simple:

Two coats of ZFX mixed with Z-5 went on my silver Civic and 1 coat of KSG (2 altogether now) went on my MBZ.

ZFX observations:

1. Applying ZFX feels just like regular unmixed Zaino.

2. The short dry time of ZFX is as advertised. 10 mins.

3. Buffing ZFX was a breeze. I find that it's easier with cotton (used a Koala towel). It felt easier than buffing unmixed Zaino, but I can't be sure because in the past I've always used Zaino under the sun. This time it was done in the garage.

4. It's been a while since I've used Zaino, but I think ZFX is slightly slicker than unmixed Zaino. I didn't think that would be possible, but I believe I believe I've found something slicker than Zaino -----> ZFX.

5. Brought the car out into the sun this morning (applied the two coats last night) and "WHOA" was my reaction. The silver color has never looked this bright and shiny.

6. The only thing I don't like about ZFX is that you usually end up wasting some product and the vials are very tough to clean afterwards (so is the foam app!). This would be a testament to how durable Zaino is. I mixed only 1 oz. and still have plenty left over after two coats even after doing the rims and windows.

Klasse SG observations:

1. Applying Klasse is even easier than applying Zaino.

2. Once again, my car hasn't looked any better.

3. The reflectivity and "candy coated" look is quite impressive.

4. Buffing KSG is even easier than Zaino if you remove with with a slightly damp MF and then do a second pass with a completely dry MF. I don't apply any more pressure than I would when QDing.

5. After my second coat of KSG on black, I think I can decisively say that I prefer Klasse over Zaino on black (Sorry DK!). But this is of course highly subjective.

6. I don't think people emphasize the swirl filling abilities of KSG enough. My swirls are getting less and less visible.

7. Using the damp MF method, Klasse SG has got to be the easiest stuff I've ever used. I personally enjoy using it more than Souveran and PPG.

8. The only downside to Klasse I can think of is that it is extremely difficult to see when applying it.

Another interesting difference I found between ZFX & KSG is that Klasse seemed to make the paint surface very soft, slick and buttery, whereas ZFX didn't seem to soften the paint but it did make it slicker than Klasse.

I wish I had some pictures to post....sorry!

you worked your butt off dood....;) ...i just threw those litttle bottle out an got cheap ones at the local paint store(4/$1)....the applicators i had to let soak in dawn to get it all out....or at least loosen it up.....:up

Hmmmmmm might have to try the ZFX since ... ah heck I dont have any yet and I do not want to be left out..... Maybe when I get some more Z supplies like the QD wash and leather in a bottle I will throw in a ZFX for myself......

IT seems if the stuff sets up in the little mix bottles in 12 hours why would it not set up on the apps??????

Intermezzo, I've been one of the biggest vocal sponsors of Klasse's swirl hiding abilities. This stuff works great for this task. I like to apply 3 layers minimum to really get an even better effect. One of the great things is that its swirl hiding abilities lasts a few months for me and my friends. Not too bad at all if you or someone else doesn't have time or want to go through the polishing stage. Laters

Guess My Name,

That's why I spend 10 whole minutes cleaning my app with Dawn/Tide/Alcohol. The app is pretty clean, but it still reeks of Zaino.

Don,

The swirl filling abilities of KSG was a pleasant surprise. I think it does as good (if not better) a job as Z-5.

Intermezzo,

You and Don are right on about the swirl filling properties of KSG. I think it does a better job than Z5. When I had Klasse on the Explorer, it did a amazing job at filling the swirls. Z5 did a good job at first, but it seems like after a few weeks you can start to see them again. Oh Well, once spring comes I will get rid of all of them anyway.
