just checking if calcarcover told me the truth about their car covers

Hey Havabooz,

Do you have a specific budget for you cover(s) Both of mine total shipped were $360, seems like a lot but remember that 2 covers. In my book, worth every penny I really couldn't be happier.

havabooz sorry i didn't see you reply to me. You are right. The Stormweave really doesn't protect from water. My truck is always wet when it rains unless it's just a sprinkle. The Superweave is great for the rain but for me the windy weather and putting my cover on & off myself I need a Stiffer cover & better protection from my landscapers. I loved my Noah for rain & my stormweave for my landscapers. Looks like i'll be using both now! I thought the two covers would produce a green house affect and cause mildew. By the way picking out the best cover to me was a big PITA. Good luck and ask away if you need help

Hey Jim,

I hope you enjoy the same results as me. I can't say for sure about the Noah over Stormweave combo I'm only certain that with WS over Noah, the WS sheets away most rain and whatever get through it is blocked by the Noah before it can get through Noah completely and/or it evaporates shortly with the exception of heavy, driving, brutal storms, even after those, most of the paint is pretty good shape :up

Hummm, Now would you put the Noah over the Stormweave or Stormweave over the Noah? Just kidding! Wish me luck! I'll keep am eye on it for mildew. I might be the first owner of a Chia Truck if I don't!

Definitely let us know :up

bill...even if the 2 cover combo was cheaper than the superweave itself i would still get the superweave for convinience purposes...

its a combo of laziness and efficiency...the only thing bothering me is the fact that i dont really know if superweave keeps out ALL water..cause if it doesnt..then the stormweave whcih is much cheaper or the WS which is a bit cheaper will be better alternatives (if im gonna get water anyway i might as well spend less $)

Why aren't my neighbors cool like you? You have a car blanket too! How is it? I wish it could be used outside! I was looking at the capsule also! My back yard would look like Epcot Center but thought they were cool! RR grill on the Caddy looks good! Nice collection there. Im glad your not my neighbor. I might ask to borrow some of that stuff! lol

I think you will be happy with the superweave for rain. My truck never got wet with it except for days of rain & only by the seems. The stormweave willl be wet if a bird cries on it! Not great for water at all. There really isnt a waterproof cover. I think it has to breath some to work right.

:o Thanks. I love the Car Jacket, Caddy stays covered zipped up inside it especially during the winter :D I would love to graduate to the Car Capsule some time :D

I sent this thread off to a friend who is a research scientist for Kimberly Clark in the division that makes car cover materials. Here's his response. If anyone would like more info, or his e-mail address to ask specific questions, PM or e-mail me.

$$$$ Weathershield/Superweave are the same fabric.

Positive + The fabric is water resistant, compact and can be washed at home.

Negative - Little to no dent and ding protection, even light wind conditions can make it difficult to remove/install cover. Good for indoors and

outdoors.

$$$ NOAH is a 4-layer fabric using breathable film technology to provide the barrier or water resistant property. NOAH also has a bicomponent technology for a soft/silky feel.

Positive + NOAH isrecommended for high-moisture applications. Great dent and ding protection.

Negative - can be bulky. Good for indoors and outdoors.

$$$ Dustop is a 4-layer fabric specifically designed for indoor use.

Positive + This fabric is soft as flannel and has 2-3 times more "dust hold-out" compared to flannel. Great dent and ding protection.

Negative - can be bulky. Good for indoors.

$$ Evolution/Technolan/Stormweave is a 4-layer fabric that has been in the market for 21+years and remains a #1 seller. This material was

called BLOCK-IT 400 Series for about 1 year before going back to the Evolution name.

Positive + The fabric is the best UV blocking fabric on the market. Good water resistance, great dent and ding protection.

Negative - can be bulky. Good for indoors and outdoors.

All the above fabrics are very good with outstanding warranty protection. To help select the best fabric for your needs, ask yourself a few questions:

1. How much do I want to spend?

2. Will the cover be used indoors or outdoors?

3. In what type climate will I be using the cover?

4. What element am I protecting the car from? Rain? Sun? Dust?

5. Do I have adequate space to store the cover in the trunk?

6. Is it important to be able to wash the cover at home versus a laundromat?

7. How important is dent and ding protection to me?

Two final thoughts:

For the little extra cost, custom-fit is will worth it. A custom-fit cover will fit the car like a glove and form to the contour of the car.

Also, beware of some cover offers on eBay. Some of the auctions claim to offer a custom-fit 3-layer brand name fabric that sold new for $159. What you get is a single layer, universal-fit nonwoven material that

sells in large retail stores for $19.99.

cool...great info..thanks..my biggest concern is moisture and non-bulky cover...so i guess ill be going with the weathershield or superweave...i think there is a big price difference between the two

anyone know why?
