Jury is still out on QEW

Perhaps resorting to traditional washing is better, doc? A hose, bucket, shampoo, and a mitt has never failed me.

Haha.. yeah.

My only problem is that I'm so busy with what I do that I get very few windows of opportunity to wash my car. Thus, garage washing at night or even direct sun washing appeals to me greatly.

I'll be using it again this weekend when I go down to SB for a big european car meet.

Kinda hard to do in the winter unless you have a garage with a drain in it.

Not to mention the fact that using a hose in the garage, you'd probably SOAK everything else in there too. :doh

I travel six months out of the year in my RV. On the road I use QEW almost exclusively. There are no swirl marks on my RV, as you can see from this photo. I use the single bucket method and a green brush.

Frank would that be true if your RV was a non-metallic black? I am not doubting everyone's success with this product but I really doubt that it is a equivalent substitute for a bucket and hose wash and paint maintenence for those that have the facility and climate to do so year round.

With that stated I believe it would be a great product for cleaning a garage queen outdoors on a sunny hot day. No water spotting. :bow

I try QEW for the first time last week on a blue BMW that just had rain dust on it. Maybe there's a learning curve but there was fine scratching after I wash with QEW. I have not gave up on QEW but I going be more careful with it until I learn how to use it.

I use QEW but use about 1 towel per panel and do not re-dip the towel into the QEW wash solution once it has washed a panel and has dirt on it. It then goes into my wash pile of towels. I generally use 6 to 10 small cotton wash towels to wash an entire vehicle.

The QEW solution does not contain some magic ingredient that releases all the dirt in the wash towel...it is just common sense that once the wash towel has some dirt on it and you then rub it against the paint surface that some fine marring or scratching will take place.

The reasons I like QEW are because you can wash and dry at the same time, no hose to drag out and put away, I don't end up getting soaked using QEW, and no drips around doors that can last for several hours.

Being in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, you would think we wouldn't have a water shortage in Honolulu, HI. :D

But we do at times get announcements from our Board of Water Supply to please cut back on water. Go figure. :nixweiss

Well, because I am a mobile detailer and don't have the luxury of owning a 50 gallon water tank I think the QEW is worth a shot.

With Aloha,

Ranney :)

Do you honestly think I would use QEW on $300,000 cars if I didn't have full confidence it will safely wash vehicles without scratching or marring when used correctly? I use it on non-metallic black all the time.

I use QEW on single stage Lexus 202 Black Onyx paint. No problems here.

QEW is some amazing stuff!

The point is while taken but "you" know the "correct" method with years of practice on less than $300,000 vehicles. I have none so "I" will not try this on my black painted vehicles in order a gain the experience when a bucket, hose is just 5 mins away from use.

As stated in the past many times, detailing is a recreation not a vocation for me, so time is not important.
