Joined the Chamber of Commerce

Tex Star Detail

Formerly TexasTB
So I bit the bullet today and joined the Local Chamber of Commerce.
My Wife is the PTA President at our kids' school, and the vice president is her friend. I guess her friends husband is in the the Chamber and is a team leader (?)
He ended up calling new businesses and called me by accident. He figured out who I was and I was there.
Have the sticker on the back of my trailer already.

Picked up 2 details already from just going in and signing up! :rockon

Who else is in the Chamber and what should I expect, look for, etc...? I am a total Newbie and looking for a little advice!

The Chamber meetings that I have been to (mixers) have been for sales people / business owners looking for leads or business for themselves....its the model that they have set-up....you will find some details out of them but they are going to be looking for business in return...at least that's what I saw of the meetings...its still a good thing as a business person to belong to...just watch out for people calling on chamber members looking for donations for various reasons...that's coming

You got that right. I am actively involved in our community (Planning Commissioner, Swim Team Coach, and I headed up Logistics for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life this year). We went to all of the Chamber Members for donations this year.

I also believe that it is a good thing to do. Joining the Chamber gets you noticed in the community. People in the Chamber are more likely to refer business to you than someone not in the Chamber, just my .02.

I thought about joining the local Chamber of Commerce, but being an internet business, I don't know what benefits I would see.

Any service level business can benefit from the Chamber
...but as I said the flip side is that clubs look at you for donations...good tax write offs....if you are interested call them and attend a monthly mixer

My business has been part of the R.P. chamber of commerce for years now it is a great place to get ideas and exchange information.
