Jeweling paint with a Flex

I read *somewhere* here that blue pads don't work just right with certain products (via Flex) Eh...wish I could remember which thread it was, but I do distinctly remember it as it was something I was glad to be warned about, having the pads in question and planning to use them for this in the future.

Almost certainly just a specific pad/product combo that doesn't work well, but it *was* posted by somebody credible, perhaps SuperBee364. Wish I could remember the details, but they escape me at present :nixweiss

:hide: It was me....I think :D

I find that via flex the blue pad is too soft, or I should say not firm enough. When the pad collapses on itself it creates a "vortex" effect on the paint causing DA "ticking." I like the Meguiars black finishing pad, or a red american buffing pad--both are flat.

So many variables when talking about finishing/jeweling with a flex that we almost need to just talk on a case by case basis....especially with some of the newer paints!

ebpcivicsi- Ah, thanks for clarifying. Knew it was *somebody* whose word I take seriously...

I'm generally not a big fan of really soft pads anyhow, not sure why I bought those blue Edge ones.. My local autobody/paint place had 'em and I must've been in the mood to spend money :o

Well, I didn't get to play with my Flex this past weekend for a few reasons. One, a friend bought a new boat that was heavily oxidized, so I lent it to him for the weekend. I also didn't want to clean my car with the weather forecast calling for heavy rain yesterday (Monday). Hopefully I can play with it later in the week or the weekend. :)
