Jeweling paint with a Flex

GBSLambo: Did you use the 7" LC Red or Yellow kompressor pad w/your flex 3401? :waxing:

For jeweling the paint I used a LC Kompressor 6" yellow jeweling pad on both cars with PO85RD. On the Viper I used a Flex 3401. On the Z06 I used a Metabo rotary. Before jeweling the paint I used a different pad/polish combo.

Just to add too the last post , about how many hours buffing did you put into the. Viper?

I think I spent about 6 hours just going back over the paint with the jeweling pad and PO86RD.

Didn't know that the Kompressor pad came in yellow.

Lake Country Kompressor 6 Inch Foam Pads, foam buffing pads, slotted foam pads, Lake Country compressed foam pads

Super Soft Gold Jewelling 6 Inch Foam Pad – The Super Soft Gold Jewelling Pad is made of Lake Country’s softest foam. Use the gold pad to apply a very fine polish or glaze as the final step of the polishing process. Jewelling is the term coined for this step because it intensifies gloss and reflectivity, like a jewel. The gold foam pad also works well for wax and sealant application.

Looks AWESOME !!!

So what is the best Kompressor size for the Flex? I believe they come in 6 and 7" versions.

I like the 6" pads the best.

One thing I have notice though is the diameter of the velcro on the back of the 6" kompressor pads is smaller than the diameter of the backing plate of the Flex. As a result after some use the Flex backing plate starts to cut in to the pad. The pad would be improved if LC increase the velcro to cover the whole back of the pad.

I would also note the Menzerna PO85RD is a great jeweling polish. You can get some great results with a lot of different pads.

I was wondering what speed you had your flex on when jeweling ?

Thanks in advance.

:cooleek: damn how many steps did you do before the jewelling? or was it already in pristine condition? lol i dont think i could ever do a full correction and then spend 6 hours finessing the paint, then have to prep it for lsp and finally apply multiple coats.

results are crazy though. excellent job. id love to see this kind of dedicated personal polish jobs in person. i know pictures arent doing the gloss justice.

Maybe this weekend I will play around with a few different polishes and pads with the Flex on my soft Honda paint and get some pictures up. I have PO85RD, Ultrafina, Optimum Finish...as well as LC gray, red, blue, gold pads and a 3M blue jeweling pad. For lighting, I have available 1000w halogens and a 300 lumen LED flashlight that shows everything. Any others you'd like to see? Post up!

Any discounts at the geek for gold jeweling pads?

We sell them individually for $11.99, but the 6 packs are $49.99. With the discount code Autopia (10% off), it would bring the 6 pack down to $44.99, which is roughly $7.50 per pad. :xyxthumbs
