Jet black single polishing?

Yeah I know, its not very possible. Suppose the customer only wanted a single polishing to improve the shine, what would you use? A black foam with 205 and the KBM? IP and black foam? 203 and black foam?

Anyhow you get the idea.

Cheers,

GREG

When I run into that I find that 106ff via polishing or finishing pad @ 1500 > finishing @ 900 does the trick. Hell, I've had immense luck with ZAIO and a finishing pad @ 1200-1500 >finishing @ 900.

As Greg said, I find 106ff/fa and a finishing pad will do a nice job correcting and finishing down on such soft paint.

I just recently used it on a Black S2000 (Very very soft) with excellent results.

I thought about the 106fa on a black, but worry on soft clears I might get halo filling.

I also have D151 on a black using the KBM, just might give me what I want too.

GREG

I find it immensely hard to get halograms with a finishing pad or polishing pad for that matter when operating @ 900 rpm.

** I always do a 90% alc wipedown and sun inspecting post polishing.

i used poliseal on a megs yellow polishing pad with the pc and got about 85% reduction in swirling on a "very mildly" swirled X5.

owner wasnt there, but I checked it out a couple times in the sun and anything more aggressive would leave hazy paint, and anything less aggressive wouldnt give me results...for a one step, it worked pretty well!

If the customer were paying for the time and for more correction, I would go with 106ff.

If shine/gloss is more important than correction, and you need to get it done (much) more quickly, I would go with the Poliseal.

Another one for PoliSeal with a light cut pad, that's my goto for customers that just want it 'shiney'. Easy enough to finish down hologram free and reduce light imperfections. Reasonably priced as well.

Would Megs PRC work for the car in question?

Otherwise known as D151. I'm going to give that a go, as I'm very low on Poliseal.....knowing my luck the poliseal will be the perfect polish, yet only have enough for the hood.....:hairpull

Thanks everyone for your imput, if there are other ideas please keep them coming..

GREG

Are you using rotary or RO? I've been successfully using M80/9006 or 8006 pad with the rotary... takes out A LOT of defects, most recently on 2 2005 Audis, and finishes down LSP ready... the only issue that may arise is holograms, but if you can finish down without hologram using 106ff it shouldn't be a problem with M80

I have both machines, but feel that a one step rotary will leave halos more easily than my RO.

Give it a shot.. I know every paint is different, but if you work the polish for a long time (the 'right' amount of time to 'break down', speaking of M80 here) it's more than likely you'll end up halo-free... I finished halo-free on a 89 BMW ss paint, a couple newer Audis and a newer VW (yes I finished a VW with no problems!) without any halos (other than a couple spots on the VW by rear quarter panels in the curved areas where the edge of the pad hit the surface... a quick pass with the RO fixes those for me

we just did a jet black 07 or 08ish bmw, 106FA on a white ccs pad did the trick. took out 85-90% of swirls and no halos.

I get fantastic results with Poliseal and a white pad. No holograms.

For a true one step polish/wax, I love it.
