jeffs werkstatt choice and application

No need to wait between coats of AJ or AJT.....if you are topping with a wax, wait a few ( 4 or more) hours.

I tell ya what, prime acrylic sure does take some paint off.

Have been tinkering with a single stage red falcon for the past few weeks and when I used acrylic with edge white pad, it took more paint off than clearkote VM or even blackfire SRC 3000. Pad was saturated with paint whereas VM just has the centre of the pad spotted with red flakes.

It's like I polished it with a 2000 grit polish and edge green

is it a good idea to do a wipedown with acrylic glos after an application of AJ? or can the cleaning properties affect the cureing of AJ?

I've been using Sonus Acrylic Glanz designed for KSG with AJ.

I know ... I always have to be different. :lol

I would have gone with Prime Strong for minor swirl remover via PC and white pad. Then I would top with AJT. This as always given me great results. You could have also just purchased AJT and bought Optimum Polish. If you would have gone that route I would have...

1. Clayed

2. Polish with Opt Polish

3. 50/50 iso wipe down

4. Seal with AJT

Hope this helps

Ive searched and didnt find a specific answer to a question I have, so I thought I would just post it here in a Werkstatt thread, instead of making an entirely new thread.

I am scheduling an appointment with a client who has 2 white cars (993, and WRX) and I want to make the cars look their absolute best for him. I have a HUGE assortment of waxes and sealants, but have heard Werkstatt is really "THE BEST" on white paint. Would you all say that either AJT or CJT would be worth buying for these details and other to come or would I be better off using one of my other myriad of LSPs as the Werkstatt really isnt all that much better on white.

Ordinarily, I would just go out and buy something, but because I already have 3 or 4 LSPs that I havent gotten around to using yet (Pink Wax, Nattys Non-Blue, 5* Wax, etc) I would like to have some more input before I buy another.

Thanks very much in advance! :D

Which waxes and sealants do you currently have? There are plenty that will bring you pretty damn close without needed to buy a new product.

Off the top of my head without being near my shop:

Waxes:

-P21S

-Nattys Blue

-Nattys Regular

-FK Pink Wax

-Meguiars Gold Class

-OCW

-Duragloss AquaWax

-Collinite #845

Sealants:

-UPP

-EX-P

I know I have more sealants than that (just blanking) and I think I actually remembered all the waxes correctly.

Thanks for the help!

White cars? EX-P buffed off with OCW would be my choice of those; I actually did that on a white '93 Camaro this week; looked awesome. I am sure there are many combos others could come up with (Regular Nattys solo, EX-P then P21S, etc...). For me, I like the protection of EX-P and think OCW looks great on white. Don't get me wrong, AJ/AJT look stellar on white, but I don't think it's worth buying them just to do a few cars. Cheers.

I just used JW Prime:Strong and AJT to do my White Van and I'm pretty satisfied. I wouldn't tell you to go out and buy it just for white because when it really comes down to it, it's the prep work that really makes the difference, right?

Hmm...Well its not as if I only plan to do 2 white cars. In fact, I am starting to collect a customer base in my area including a large exotic car club. I think I might actually go with AJT and CJ just to add to the collection, especially for use on whites. (I also just bought a tin of Megs #16 off Ebay... )

Those pics look SWEET. It is all about the prep, and I think I have enough polishes combos to create the appropriate base for the LSP.

Thanks guys.

Honestly, I'd get the Werkstatt line so you can offer your customers a high quality sealant that protects very well and looks great with a single application.

Scott,

Would you say that CJ isnt really worth buying? It seems that everyone raves about AJT, but not so much about the CJ. Seeing as I already have quite a few waxes, I wouldnt mind avoiding unneccessary purchases.

I think I will go with AJT and the Acryllic Gloss as well...your thoughts?:dance

Have been using the Jeffs W. line on 4 Mercs. and a Silver Audi R6 already and all my customers are truly astonished by the results. And these are customers who had their cars done with Zymol, Swizzol Megs' , AutoGlym and Glare. Wouldn't detail a car without Jeffs W. products these days. I would definitely say start with either Prime Strong / Prime Acrylic and AJ Trigger. Don worry about the Glos for now. After your 2nd or 3rd car (fatten up the kitty) go get yourself Prime Carnauba and CJ. You won't be disappointed.

One need to experiment...don't you think?

Well, I actually placed my order before you posted, and ordered the following:

-AJT

-Acryllic Glos

-An Extra Trigger Bottle (empty)

That came to $31 shipped, which wasnt too bad. That said, I thought about adding Prime or Prime: Strong to the mix only to realize they both sound like many of the polishes I already have:

-Prime sounds like my pre-VOC AIO

-Prime: Strong sounds kind of like my Optimum Polish

I always use a boutique wax or sealant on top of AIO or VM (any polish that *could* be a standalone..) anyway, so the protection offerred by either Prime or Prime: Strong seemed unnecessary.

Thanks for all the advice. With any luck my order will ship tommorrow and be here sometime next week in time for the weekend. ;)

FWIW, even mixed with OCW 50/50 I don't use CJ much. I do sometimes, but I like AJT a lot more just because it looks very good, lasts a long time, and is much, much easier to use.

Carnauba Jett is a very good carnauba, leaves the paint looking darker and deeper. Application can be a bit tricky since if you appy too much, it tends to be a bit sticky and hard to spread-and you have to continue spreading until it nearly clears out for easy removal. My solution...actually, 04_Cobra's solution that I stole, is to mix CJ 50/50 with Optimum Car Wax. Looks very, very wet and application isn't much more difficult than OCW alone.

Try the 50/50 mix on silver, the wetness is unreal. :)

Ya, I've done it a few times. It's pretty incredible, but even with OCW I still find it a little difficult to apply without getting tacky or streaking.
