Jeff's AJ vs KSG

Depends on the product. But the idea is to avoid removing (at least removing too much) of the previously-applied layer. Here are a few examples of how I've been able to layer (yeah, I did apply proper tests/controls/etc. to see if the layering really happened ;) ) a few products:

With KSG it's pretty much just a matter of waiting a day or so between coats, though I wouldn't rub really hard when applying the additional coats.

With FK1000P I need to wait even longer.

With products that "shouldn't layer at all because of their cleaners" such as SRP, you need to not only wait, but also be *VERY* gentle about the subsequent applications.

With paste waxes, it's often necessary to spit-shine.

With liquid waxes, some simply don't show any evidence of layering at all, though some (e.g., Malm's and Collinite 845) do seem to layer just fine with no special treatment beyond waiting a day or so between coats.
