Well i did my bosses jeep today. I dont think the car has ever been washed since owned. Its also been outside its whole life and cats were evidently all over the hood. There were tons of scratches on it and it was overall just pretty bad.

What i used on paint:

Clayed panels i thought needed it

3M rubbing compound on orbital buffer

NXT

Meguiars #26 high tech yellow wax

I also used some Hi-temp heavy cut paint leveler on the hood and got some touch up paint for the major scratches.

Dupont teflon Wheel cleaner

Dupont teflon tire shine

Interior got Meguiars natural shine and black magic leather cleaner/conditioner.

Here is a few before and after of the body...

Tough detail & a very good transformation.....too bad some folks don't care for thier vehicles better.......I would hope he's overjoyed and tipped you well.

Hey,

I got a 98 Grand Cherokee that I plan on doing some serious detailing on. What did you use for touch up paint...I've found many companies online that have touch up paint, but was wondering how they worked out. Let me know.:up

Thanks,

TJ

P.S. Its a BLACK Cherokee

I was unable to find black touchup paint anywhere! Two autozones didnt carry any and advanced auto was all out. So i went to walmart and they had some cheap stuff and i gave it a try. It seemed to work pretty good. I touched up a bunch of those rock chips on the hood also. It was just a quick touchup job but it looks much better than before.

I ended up delivering the jeep back to my boss at night and when her and her family came out to see it they were all like "wow!". I just said "wait till you see it in the light!" Well, as i was driving home i got a call on my cell phone from her and she said "OH MY GOSH!! We just pulled it in the garage and it looks incredible... its like brand new! " So that made me pretty happy.

excellent work!

how long did it take you?

I picked it up at 8am and got done around 2pm...i was hustling though. I did some touchup and stuff throughout the day and was finally able to catch my boss back at her house around 10pm that night because she was gone all day.

gotta love the thin paint on the grand cherokee's. i've had two and both the hoods have ended up like that. not quite as bad, but almost. Do other car brands hoods look like that after a few years as well?

maybe its just more apparent since both of mine have been black or nearly black.

no wonder it was so bad...women car owners
