Jaguar E Type V12

I met a guy who owns a 70's Jag E type with a V12 that wants me to detail it for him, his main area of concern is the engine compartment. I have heard bad things about these engines when it comes to cleaning them. Fires etc... from the mis-use of pressure washers.

Does anyone here have any experience with these cars?

I would really like the challenge of cleaning this car, but cleaning the engine makes me a bit nervous. I plan on just cleaning the engine by hand, which may take me forever, but thought that a pump sprayer may be my friend here.

Here is an example of what I will be dealing with

Dunno. But most reports of fires in Jags are electrical problems. But supposedly those were handled when Ford took em over.

Second the electrical problems...I've always heard that Jags in general and especially the older ones have electrical gremlins.

WHATS THE GUY WANT TO DO MAKE A COFFEE TABLE OUT OF THE THING.Looks clean already.

APC with the toothbrush x2 and lots of clean rags to wipe after brushing. If you have any oil use a spray of brake:cleaner on the rag be careful where you use it.It is not paint friendly. Also the pump up hand pressure sprayer would be a nice thing to try with APC with a light "CONTROLED" mist.I would also ask if he wants it sprayed with any dressing after the cleaning.Remember this will attract dust and make a nasty job for you next time.:passout:

That pic is just an example of what I will be working on, not the actual car :D, thanks for the advice, I went out and bought a pressure sprayer this evening to spot clean it with APC, I will have the car for a couple days, so I can spend some good time cleaning the engine. The car will never see the road so it should stay clean for awhile, it will be going in this guys collection. You should see this guys garage:passout::wow:
