I've got Water Spots

Another interesting day here with "my" car.

So today I decide that I am going to take my Impala SS out for a ride. But first I decide that I am going to wash it down, because its a "warm" day here in NY (38*F). The car has been sitting outside for two months now. Its got 2 coats of P21s with a top coat of 476s. The water still beads like crazy on it, and when you rinse it down the water sheets off and its almost dry before you even hit it with the waffle weave. Sitting next to this car is a 2005 Corvette... also black. This car was hand waxed by the previous owner every week. This ended in November when my girlfriend and I purchased it. I have not had the time to "correct" the paint or add wax. I said I would in the spring.

On my SS I have water spots like crazy. Washed the car twice and I can't get them off, no way no how. they are all over the car.

On the C6 I washed it once and the paint comes up clean (slightly swirly) but not a single water spot. :nixweiss

As some of you know, I have constant issues with the paint on this Impala. And no issues with the paint on the other two cars. I washed the car with Megs Gold Class, and 2 capfulls of ONR. I am thinking I need something a little more hardcore to get these water spots off. What do you guys think?

I absolutely love Danase Water Spot Remover!!!

After spending 3 days detailing a black BMW 5 series, 1 month later the owner left his car at a friends house and the sprinklers left nasty water spots over 75% of it. I washed it twice, tried clay(it marred the paint, AIO (didn't do much). I didn't want to repolish this whole car again so I tried DWSR and it took it off without damaging the finish 1 bit. All you do is apply the product onto a wax pad and wipe it over the surface and rinse it off. There's no need for any neutralization other than your standard car wash soap. I re-LSP'd it and it looked just like it did after I detailed it. Check it out:

Danase water Spot Remover - The safe way to remove water spots

I barely used 10% of the product on almost an entire car. Not bad for $15 bottle.

Tried Vinegar today, did not work...

First thing that pops up when you type in Water Spots is Chemical Guys Water Spot Remover. Is that stuff any good?

I've used Danase products before, and they usually work very well. I may give that a crack. I am definitely buying this stuff right away before these spots really embed themselves in my paint.

Thanks for the input so far guys,

Dan

nice to know, I purchased some, but havent had a car to test it out on yet, and my car has spots, but those are easily removed via waxing (liquid luster wax at that!)

Duragloss WSR #505 works great on hard water spots (non acid rain-type.) Won't harm durable finishes either.

I agree! I got lazy and didn't refill the resin in my CR Spotless for a couple of washes and my wife has a Flint Mica Lexus. I used the nozzle-less rinse to sheet the majority of the water and an electric leaf blower to dry but it didn't seem to help that much. I still had water spots.

Then I tried my bottle of Duragloss #505 and hit each panel with a couple/several sprays like a QD and the spots were gone. Then I followed up with my QD. I was really surprised at the effectiveness of the product to be quiet honest. I plan on ordering a gallon on my next order that way I'll always have some around. (for next time I'm lazy)

I had etched water spots and CG's WSR didn't touch 'em. They were pretty bad though.... took multiple hits of M105 with a rotary and PFW to get rid of 'em.

Your mileage may vary.....

Just ordered Danase Water Spot Remover, Danase Wet Glaze (finally), and two cans of Stoner Trim shine! Hopefully it works...
