I've got a crazy question

I like blue! :oP
Can you wash a car bra? I mean those black pleather ones for the front end? I bought one used for my jetta, no instructions and missing pieces that will be ordered. But for the mean time i'de like to clean it up since it has alot of dirt on it from beeing stored. I want to know if i can throw it in the washing machine? Is it possible or will i have to scrub by hand?

If it's real leather I would wash it by hand. If it's vinyl I would still wash it by hand...just seems like there's less chance of something going wrong to me :) I've seen people pressure wash them at one of those DIY places, but somehow I don't think that's a good idea :P

That I am aware of you can't....I would get some good APC and a plastic brush and have at it.....Its the way that I have kept mine clean....Also protect that after with a good conditioner

I've got a crazy question

There are no crazy questions, only crazy moderators.

On a more constructive side, I have no answer for your question, except to contact your local "pleather outlet" (like Pleather-R-Us or Pleathermart), and ask them, "I bought this pleather jacket, and wore it while traveling at 60 miles/hour in the rain, snow, sleet and mud. How do I wash it?".

1. Take it off the car.
2. Hang it on the fence.
3. Wet it down with a hose (both sides)
4. Spray both sides with an all-purpose cleaner.
5. Scrub both sides with a tire brush
6. Rinse, Rinse, Rinse! for at least 5 minutes on the "fuzzy" side
7. Let drip dry. (Make sure it's a warm day... it may take a while to dry)

I have done this twice a year for the last 3 years and the bra still looks like new.

Is automotive simple green good enough or too strong?
Just my personal opinion, but I would think that Simple Green full strength would be pretty harsh on vinyl.
Another thought. Would it be beneficial to use some good vinyl protectant after the cleaning?

I always cut Simple Green about 70:30 (water:SG).

Automotive SG, however, isn't nearly as concentrated. To be on the safe side, I'd cut it 50:50.

Yes... I use 303 on mine. (BTW, the only time I use my bra, is on road trips, not for daily driving - usually 10-12 or so road trips per year.)
