It's Shoppin' Time

Well, the weather is warming up in Chicago which means one thing for me.......detailing the Maxima. Considering I got my tax return recently (:D), I need to start stocking up on my detailing supplies. So far, these are the items on my most wanted list:

1) More Klasse

This year, I might have 4 cars to do on a regular basis (My Maxima(whoops, that should be plural ;)), The Dreaded Navigator, a Mercedes, and my Pastor's Concorde). I plan to Klasse all 4 of them.

2) Another jar of Souveran

I am going to need that once I get through with that darn Navigator.

3) Microfiber gloves

I am going to do an experiment and see if they will work on cleaning the interior glass

4) Better MTs than the NicSands I currently have

I am looking at YoSteve's

5) EF Clear Vision

Experimenting with different cleaners for glass

6) Swabs (dusting the cracks and crevices of the dash)

7) 5 Gal EF HI

8) 3 liters Vinylex

9) Porter Cable 7336 and the associated pads

10) 3M Swirl Mark Remover for Light Cars

11) One Grand Blitz Wax

12) (Optional) 1300 psi Pressure Washer

For cleaning the undercarriage and wheelwells

13) Vent Brush

14) Clay Magic Clay Bar

15) Wenol

16) Zaino Glass Polish

17) Plexus Plastic Polish and cleaner

18) Steam cleaner for doing the inside carpet (Optional)

That's all I can think of for the moment. Am I missing anything?

You're gonna LOVE the PC. Don't know how I ever lived without mine. I will anxiously await your review on the MF gloves... where are you getting those?

everyone's right about the PC. i bought the 7424, and i tested it out on my car's spoiler (which has a really bad paint job on it) and it really made it look great, in about 10 minutes!

Are you going to stock up on QD also? I currently have Meguiar's Final Inspection in the gallon size, but I plan on buying One Grand Show Off by the gallon also after reading great reviews of it's slickness due to the carnuba content.

Don't bother with the 1300 psi PW, it won't clean a thing. Thats not enought pressure for undercarriage or wheelwells, and you will need to do a lot of hand scrubbing anyway.

I have a 2500psi 3gpm unit. I would not unleash that kind a power on the paint, and I can tell you from experience that wheel wells will still need hand scrubbing. The tar and grease on the undercarriage will not emulsify with the pressure washer alone, unless it is a hot water unit. Also, just FYI, when shopping for a pressure washer, it is more important to look at the units rating for "cleaning units." Cleaning units are determined by multiplying psi x gpm. Using that formula, you will see that gpm is much more important in determining a pressure washers cleaning ability.

I think you'll want a Paint Cleanser of some sort in case you have any issues with the SMR. But maybe you already have that... Also having some FI II or Perfect It II/III would be nice to have in the arsenal.

That's some food for thought. I might hold off on the pressure washer until I can afford a hot water unit. :)

<strong class='bbc'>you got a few good wash mitts>? [/b]</blockquote>
I have 3 mitts currently. 2 Sheepskin and 1 Chenille (Viking). The Chenille is for the body and I have relegated the sheepskins to lower body and wheelwell work.

I have an Absorber but I found myself going back to my chamois. I might get one of the Pittards that CMA sells.

Since I might be washing a few cars (other than the 4 mentioned), I am going to use my Meguiar's #26, and 9 on other cars and add a bottle of #20.

you're gonna love that #20 with the PC..... goes on nice and easy, and actually does a nice job on its own of polishing as it protects..... :up

Hey, Prinz, did you get in on that Klasse GP I had going on earlier this month? That would have been a good way to get stocked up on some stuff. I guess we just have to wait for CMA and the April deal to get a good discount, eh?

Don't forget applicators, towels (100% cotton, and MF - I like neatitems for the money!!), tire dressing (unless u are gonna use 303), glass cleaner, washmitts, brushes, clay, paint cleanser (PPCL), and quick detailer. On the cars with minimal swirling, clay and PPCL is a great prep!

Sounds good to me.

I have a Expy and I'm trying to figure out a way of getting to the roof (there's got to be something better than the milk crate) :)
