Its Cold in Tacoma!!!

Orinda Auto Detail

Opti Coat Pro Certified
I had a customer contact me who is out in WA near Seattle about Correcting and coating his New M6. He had spoken with a few local people about some options like Gtech or CQ but I guess didn't like what they had to say so he flew me out to do my thing and apply Opti Coat Pro. After finding me on this forum he decided to get the most reflective finish possible and I was the man for the job! Now being from Cali I froze to death while in Tacoma I think it was like -300 degrees out side(Slight exaggeration, only slight though;)) So I got in contact with Brian Churchill and he was nice enough to let me use his shop while I was there to do the work. I was on a huge time crunch on this as I got there at about 4pm on Friday and had a flight out at 11pm the next night. Then straight to Mexico for Vaca. Given the work that needed to be done I got to it and worked through the night minus an hour nap where I dreamed I was hanging out in Antarctica. After I woke I decided to keep moving rather freeze to death not moving. I'm gonna say sorry for some of my pics because clearly I was shaking when took the pics so their blurry.

When I picked the car up it looked lifeless to my eyes
null_zps7b1faa9b.jpg

There was bird poo everywhere.

Tragically I had to drive this almost 600hp monster about 40 min away to Brians shop. This had to be the worst part of the whole trip because I know we all hate driving 600hp cars.... Gawd I wish it was pruis, probably would of been funner saving all that gas money... Not hearing the fire breathing master piece that the M division cooked up. Being begged to get the holy grail of MPG instead of being begged to drive it like you stole it... I know we all get depressed in situations..

After I washed and decon'd the car I brought it inside. Then I used my phone to google "symptoms of hypothermia and frostbite". After seeing what google said I decided that I was just being a little girl and was in no real danger of losing any limbs. So I got to it!

Inspecting the car it was in ok shape but not great by any means.

I really had to pick and chose my battles on this as I was on limited time. So I left a few RIDs here and there rather than chase them down. I was going for 95% and got 95.0043 so I was happy.

The Bpillars took the worst of the dmg. These SUCKED to polish out... Sneeze and scratch soft.

Now at this point it was about 7am and I had got a fair amount done so I pull my phone out and checked the hypothermia and frostbite symptoms and decided I was still alive and probably still just being a little girl about the cold.
Jason Kilmer showed up at 8am to give me a hand getting the car done and take me to star bucks! I was soooo happy for this. BTW This is a great guy and the whole team at polished image are awesome as well. So from now on when ever ppl in WA/Seattle area contact me I'll save my self the hypothermia and Refer them to Brian's shop. If I would of known before hand probably could saved my pinky toe... It had to be cut off when I got because I was crying so much about the cold my tears stuck it and froze it off.

So this is bare naked paint after what seemed to the longest IPA wipe down in history. Freezing cold and 91% IPA doesnt flash away... To Apply OC pro was just as fun and for sure a learning experience.

This shot right after washing, note the gloss, and clarity.

After it was done! HUGE difference. Forgive that lack of more done pics. I was in a huge hurry and still had to take the car back in the rain and ONR it real quick when I got to the parking garage. I'm glad I met some awesome ppl to refer customers to in that area! It's funny I get emails from all over the country a ton(mostly for Tesla's and not sure why:rofl).

Thanks for looking!

thats a pretty cool story. great work given the cold

i bet it was fun foaming that car up in that weather

that sucks that you had to drive it back and forth in the rain and esp had to ONR it again once you did all that work.

hope you are enjoying some warmer weather now on your vacation

Beautiful work Joe. I can't imagine detailing in that cold. Then again, if I knew I was going to Cabo to "thaw out" it might help !!!!!

Beautiful as always!!!

I hate the b pillars on bmw's. A ROYAL PAIN and I've never quite figured out how to do em right

Well Im in Tacoma area and I know the customer did not talk to me about Gtechniq since Im Accredited. Your client must have talked to the other accredited gtechniq detailer up north. Since your not from this area if your clients wants they can stop by and I can keep a eye on the OC Protection in a good way and keep you informed on its progess. If you want.

Honestly you bash OC all the time.... Thanks for the offer but it's ok. The guys at polished image are going to do that for me. I've only seen your pics and they have been getting better so I'm sure you do fine work. But your attitude has always bothered me and for that reason I'd never ask you to take care of any of my clients or send you new ones for that matter. I'm coming back up in July though if you want to come see an OC application that didn't fail because there was 0 user error on my end. Even in the cold I know I got it right and my prep was flawless. Then maybe your attitude toward OC might change.... And you'll stop bashing a product you've never used.

I to have dealt with Brian & Jason. They both have helped me immensely in my detailing. In fact, I am taking a wet sanding class from Jason soon. This guy is a magician when it comes to detailing. If you have any questions, or don't want to detail your car yourself, this is the place to go. As stated earlier, they are located in Tacoma, WA. The name is Polished Image Detailing @ 5047 South Washington Street, website- Tacoma Detail Shop | Auto Paint Correction | Polished Image Detailing.

The most important saying is " always take care of the customer " period! No back talk or bashing about products please, just remember future customer's are looking at forums and this might set them off! Your work looks great and hope the customer was very happy with it.:bigups BTW it's always cold up there but a great place to eat seafood!

Thats fine...I was not bashing a product I have never used. I only reported what I have seen in person. Matter of fact Im assisting a local detail who wants my help with a OC Pro application tommorrow. Ill say this, even though I am Accredited with Gtechniq I think that program is total BS and a waste of money, so there you go.

I'm sorry you feel like that.... At the same time anything you say can can't be taken seriously or even paid attention to because of the way you behave online.... Really "reflects" poorly on reflective auto detailing.

LOL...thats hella funny. Im just not one to jump on the bandwagon and believe all the hype on coatings out there or whats shoved down peoples throat. I do think if your using a certain coating and it works for you then use it. I use what I use for several reasons and dont use other coatings for several reasons. I could careless if you dont take me serious but my clients dont have a problem handing over near or even $2000 for my full Gtechniq details. How much did you make on that OC detail at Jasons shop? How much did he take for his cut? I know him and Brian personally but I cut my ties after they refused to provide good customer service after the faulty Meg's MF pad failed time after time and they could careless that the products they sold me were failing all over the place. With all that aside it would be nice to meet another pro detailer from another area. I will be going down to San Diego sometime soon since I was invited to work on a La Ferrari and Porsche 918 once it gets delivered. If you want to meet up and have some beers let me know.

Wow.... You really are something else... Jason and Brian are stand up as they come. As for not buying into hype, look up all your old post where you insisted nanoskin was the greatest thing ever, until you saw it fail... And saying you were invited to do those cars. I flat out can't believe you. How many "I'm gonna test or do" threads have you started and never followed up on?? And talking numbers with me.... Not exactly sure but I'd guess my shop does 10 times what yours does on monthly basis. Throwing Jason and Brian under the bus.... Not cool. Knowing them for the short time I have, they really are good people. You on the other hand constantly have an ability to demeen your self and your credibility. There's 2 sides to every story. I'm sure we hear Brian and Jason side it goes from bad customer service to unreasonable customer. You showed this with Garry Dean and constant attacks. Rather than just taking his offer for a refund you just kept throwing him under the bus. Just saying your actions speak loudly about you and constantly say "my attitude sucks! I'm unreasonable!". I'm glad you'd like to meet another "pro" like me. But part of being a "pro" is being professional in more ways than correcting paint. That being said I hope some of this sinks in. And just maybe you'll start being a professional on all aspects and I might consider that beer. Until then.... No one is going to think of you any different than I do. All the talent in the world gets you 0 respect amongst peers with a bad attitude. Hope you had a good turkey day!
