I appreciate any insight and guidance that you folks may offer me here.

My Cobra is about 3 weeks out of the paint booth. It is an incredible job of Black with PPG Global Spec clear coat over. The car looks like black glass, except for the small surface rubs and slight swirls that were introduced by me as I finished the final assembly.

The clear seems to show just about anything that touches it. it was Not scratched, but almost anything except Final Finish and a microfiber will show something. Will the clear harden over time, or is this what I am in for and that is pretty much normal?

I have the complete Poor Boys swirl remover kit and the CH orbital. I figure that prior to 90 days of cure time, I cant do much but hand glaze and try to remove any surface stuff that way.

I have always been a McGuires and 3M user, so this Poor Boys material is new to me.

All comments, words of wisdom, speculation and prayers are welcomed!

There are 2 schools of thought now on fresh painted surfaces.

1. Let it cure/off gas for 30-90 days after painting.
2. Since paint is now water based, it doesn't need to cure very long (almost 0 )

Since the base is black and you've got a heavy clear on top, you may be working your butt off to keep it nice. (welcome to the black car club)
Black isn't a hobby, it's a career!

Best bet is to ck with the painter on when it will be ok to touch it wiht more than cool water.
 
Glenn, your clear is still curing so just washing is all you should be doing at the moment. You should let that paint cure for 6 weeks, but I would ask the body shop what they think.

As fro swirl removal a mild polish like the SSR1, P-w-C or PP would be what I would use. As for black your in for a ride with that color its always going to show what ever hits it
 
Streetrod Painter (Kens Custom) in Yuba City CA did the work. You guys are right on the money with the calls. He said it's ok to hand glaze now if I take it real easy, but no wax compounds or polishes for 90 days. He also said that the Final Finish was cool, just be conscience of the microfiber and turn it often. Microfiber is new to me. We always used the soft gauze / muslin rolls. This will be a learning curve for sure. I'm not even sure how or with what to cover the thing. I'm using a soft, non lined cover right now. When I pull it, I blow the car down with compressed air at a flat angle before I touch anything. I swear this is going to be a process. LOL.

I have purchased a bunch of materials from the store here. I will continue to do that. It is a cool community here.
 
On your micro fiber towels, dont cut corners there. get some good quality towels they will last much longer and do a better job in the end
 
I wouldn't even use a cover on it at this point. Simply putting it on and removing it will cause problems with paint that new, especially black.
