It always cracks me up...

...to see people in my office building when they get a new car and park it way out in the lot where I always park mine. Within a month, it hasn't been washed and now they are parking right in the middle of door ding land.

This one lady bought a beautiful dark blue I-30 a couple of years ago and was so proud of it, and told me how she parked out next to my car. 2+ years later, I would say maybe it's been washed once. :shocked

My favorite is when you park in the far corner spot of a parking lot. Almost up against the curb so it's almost impossible to get a door ding and then have some idiot pull up and park next to your...across the line and within 6 inches of your car. There are about 300 other spaces closer to wherever you are going. DON'T PARK NEXT TO ME.

Yeah it's great.

I park way out there too at work and a few others park there consistantly.

Porsche Boxter - always clean

BMW X5 - always dirty but parks out there anyway

New Stang GT - Always clean but rims always dirty

Audi TT convertible - Always clean

But then you always get the newcomers that last about a month or two.......over the past yr or so they included a new civic, new passat, an X3, and a few others. Funny stuff.

I too am stunned at the steps people take to avoid door dings (I do the same) but make no other effort to take care of their car's finish.

Yeah, there's a guy in my area who parks his new black Z diagonally across multiple spaces...it's paint is so marred up that I can't imagine what it'd take to fix it. Door-dings oughta be the least of his worries, and parking like that is gonna get it keyed some day.

How far out do you park? I park way out there too. I think my passengers usually feel like they got a work out by the time we get inside wherever we are going.

What part of GA are you in?

Everyone hates driving with me because I park so far away...My girlfriend makes me give her piggy back rides when it's too far or when she feels lazy/tired

It often amazes me how some people don't even see swirls and scratches. They'll point out dings and dents to me, but when I say "you should really take care of all these swirls" they'll say "huh?".

Anyway, on topic; I've given up parking far away, seems I get as many dings far away as I do in the thick of it.

I've FINALLY got my wife parking defensively. She even commented to me the other day how proud I would be of her for always parking "in the south 40". One small victory.

There is one lone parking spot in my works parking lot that doesn't have trees over it t. It is an end spot and I get to work 1 hour early just to get it. And this really nice guy in a Explorer parks next to me and is really nice about leaveing enough 'breathing' space for me. :)

In the main campus parking lot here, I park in the back corner all the time, and during the warmer months, there will be several other cars parked by me. As mentioned by other posts, the cars are rarely clean or free of swirls. But once the average high gets in the 30s, those other cars start to quickly disappear. Oddly enough, the only car that continues to park near me is another Protege. :nixweiss

:werd: ...

Back in the day, I used to do the multiple space thing because the car I drove at the time had a very rare color that was hard as hell to match when repainting.

Nowadays, I don't mind parking far out.

I do the double park in the Vette as it is a rare color, and the car is minty all around (new paint 1 year ago). It is not a daily driver though, so it only sees a parking lot for maybe an hour or two a week.

However, I'm not a douche, and I do it at the very back of whatever lot I am at. If you do it at the very front, you are asking to be keyed.

Don't you hate that people think that way? If it's a nice car and they are taking up two spaces for protection's sake, then I can respect that. A classic car, or a really nice custom ride. What I hate is when I see some dime a dozen car like a Civic or something totally stock taking up two spots. However, it would NEVER cross my mind to harm another person's car.

I'm probably 100 yds from the door, but only about 10 spaces from the last cars. I'm like you, when I drive at lunch I let everyone out at the door. :D

I live in Suwanee, but moving to Dacula this w/e and I work in Duluth.

Seems like I've seen a ton of Impala SS's around lately. :xyxthumbs

Its even better when you park WAAAAY out in the park end of the lot all by yourself and someone parks right next to you. With all those spaces around why do they feel the need to put their car in the spot next to you?

I used to double park where I park now, 20 spaces from the next nearest car, but they the over-zealous, policeman-wannabee, security guy gave me 3 different warning slips, and the last one said I would be towed if I double parked again. I guess he had nothing better to do. :nixweiss
