IMO there's no reason to double the instructed amount of ONR, that's just wasting product.
Also, if there's dirt particles on the car, you can still use ONR...just have to use a bucket of it and a mitt!
IME, there IS a reason to use double amounts of the recommended dosage. We in Hungary have extremely dirty rains, and stubborn, sticky road film. The double ONR dose results in a slicker, safer application. I used the normal amount on a new Accord with just a little visible dirt and was shocked that the drying towels were black after I wiped the surface! I quickly made a double-strength solution and it was still not enough. I ended up with an almost triple-strength mix... Finally the wipe towels were clean. The mitt glided more smoothly and the solution ate the dirt away as it should. Unfortunately, here, I must use the double-strength mix quite regularly (even on properly protected cars) to get the necessary cleaning power.
And although I love ONR, I don't understand completely its seemingly contradictive logic. Lots of dirt: weak solution - wash. Little dirt: strong solution - QD.
