Is the Edge 2K 6" DA Orange Pad new or old?

I have a question about the Edge 2K 6" DA orange pad. It's not listed on the Edge website, and only available in some websites. Is this pad new or is it old and being phased out?

hi,
there are two type of orange pads now one of them is the regular edge 2000 6" or 8In (flat pad) and the newly introduced is the Wave aka WW pad..to my knowledge neither are being phased out both have there place because some prefer flat over wave and vise versa....as far as the orange pad goes its a special type of foam for the euro market so thats why it qty are limited(dont qoute me on that)

I'm referring to the flat 6" orange pad for the PC. Your explanation makes sense. Thanks.

Now another mystery. According to the Edge chart says that the green is a light cut pad with 60 pores per inch. But in Autogeek, the green is a medium cut with 50 pores per inch. Here the orange is a light cut with 60 ppi. What's going on? Can someone clear this up for me please?

They are still available just have to order. Both AG an DC have them in their stores. Kind of a special order from our sponsors. I use the orange pad a ton and like it a lot.

hooked -

I noticed this, as well - and it took me a while to figure it out, but I think I finally got it:

The Edge 2000 system consists of five 6" flat foam pads - heavy cut 40ppi (HC), medium cut 50ppi (MC), light cut 60ppi (LC), finishing 70ppi (F) and ultrafine polish 80ppi (UP). The first generation were colored as follows:

HC 40ppi = Yellow
MC 50ppi = Green
LC 60ppi = Orange
F 70ppi = Blue
UP 80ppi = White

Some of this stock is still out there at distributors such as Autogeek.

The new color schemes is as follows (but, the cuts are the same):

HC 40ppi = Black
MC 50ppi = Yellow
LC 60ppi = Green
F 70ppi = Blue
UP 80ppi = White

I hope this helps. Someone at Edge please correct me if I'm wrong (and email me back regarding my custom combo pad order!)

I've spoken to Aaron, he indicated that orange has always been and still is a special order pad. They make it for retailers that request it.

uh-oh... that means I have to add to my order!

From AG: PC 7424, quick connect adaptor, 1-Orange, 1-Green, 1-Blue
From Edge direct (hopefully): 1-combo pad Yellow/White

Has anyone here ordered a custom combo 2000 pad from Edge? Is it easier to do over the phone?

I didn't know that you could order directly from Edge. I always thought they sold to distributors only.

I haven't found a distributor, yet, that is offering custom combo pads. I'm still waiting for a response to my email to Edgepads.com (customerservice@dedicationtodetail.com)

You might be right on this one but I thought that Edge would sell direct on custom pads. I've never tried however.

We have been having this same question come up on AG about the orange pad. For those of you who have the Edge 2k DA 6'' pad kit from AG the yellow is heavy cut, green is medium, orange is light cut, blue is polishing, and white is finishing. I hope this clears up some confusion about the orange pad.

Here is the info GearHead posted over at the autogeek forums:

I posted this info a while ago with information I received in conversation with Aaron at Edge and from their site. I think I related that information correctly. I've recently seen some advertising (I think it was AG) that had the number of pores per inch differently than what I had posted. So don't hold me to the number but the description and the color of pad should all be correct.

I love my orange pads! LOL
I use them quite a bit.

I remember talking to Aaron a month or so ago about a problem with one of my pads. After that, I told hom I will be calling him back to make another order of pads. He said I needed to contact the distributors. now as far as the custom pads....Not sure if he sells direct.

BTW.....Anyone try the waffle pads , 6 inch for the PC???? I am debating on picking up the waffle pads for a change, or sticking with the regulars....
Any differences you noticed...????

If im not mistaking Aron encourages customers to purchase the pads from the sponsors here at DC..

Yup, I've got them. I did a little review on them not too long ago. It's on DC somewhere. I think they offer a little less resistance and seems like it takes no effort at all to "steer" them. They also seem to have a little more bite to them. The tips of the waffle seem to wear quickly though it doesn't pose a problem. I probably would tell someone to order the regulars first if they like those give the waffle ones a try.
