is the 54745 pad that comes with PC 7336 any good?

Some people don't like it but I think its OK for general polishing. Nothing to write home about but you shouldn't toss it either.



I'm sure several people will disagree.....
 
As was said, lots of different opinions on the white pad that comes with the 7336 PC.

It is a polishing pad, similar to the yellow polishing pad you get from Meguiar's.

Mine has been used for Meguiar's #9 Swirl Remover several times with no problem. Based on what I had read here I originally thought the pad that came with the PC would be worthless and self destruct in no time at all. That has sure not been the case.

The velcro system is handier, but the screw on pad isn't that difficult to change.

I do have the Meguiar's velcro backing plate and pads and when the white pad does get worn out, it will be replaced by another Meguiar's polishing pad.



One thing that helps many of us is describing the pad by its use, not by its color. Not all pad manufacturers use the same colors. so yellow, white, brown, red, beige,etc., doesn't tell anyone a lot about the pad in question. Cutting, polishing, finishing are much easier for me to understand.

It's so-so. Not as good to the CMA/Meguiar's pads, but all right. You might as well use for unimportant tasks, like the car of a friend or relative.
 
Where can I get the CMA pads? I just picked up my 7336SP today , and I would like to get the velcro backer and pads to try.
 
just wanted to report back that the PC pad worked fine for me. infact, I'm glad I used it instead of one of the meguiar's pads that I also purchased. I had to restore the finish on an older faded miata so the PC pad got a good workout using medallion paint cleaner then show car glaze. now it's all read ad won't be touching teh bimmer or the subaru (both white cars).

It seems to be pretty much a general recommendation to not use the same pad for two different products. If it is washed between those uses, I don't understand what the problem would be, but like I said, most people suggest a different pad for each product.



To get rid of all the old red pigment, just wash it in a Dawn & water solution, let it dry, and you will be good to go again.

actually, I did rinse out and wring the pad thoroughly between products. :) it still ain't touchin' the bimmer, though. ;)
