Is something wrong with my OS?

I care about slickness. Why? I dont have an answer. I just like to feel the paint and feel the buttery softness.

Yes I too love the slickness feeling touch. I feel the satisfaction of a freshly applied wax / sealant on the paint. And the slick smooth paint. :)

Oh yea. I didn't even think of that even though that was one of the main points of my post. Since it was so unslick, I just gave up on qding. Now we'll see if my onr wash will be affected

Just use OID on top of OOS. This is the simplest and most effective way.

BTW, how old is your paint? More permeable finishes have a drier feel/behavior.

My car is a 2004. You mran use oid like right after is applied? Hmmm sounds like a good idea. So in general though is the consensus that os is just not too slick on its own?

OS has okay slickness, it is never going to be like Wolfgang's Sealant.

I have found that cooler, humid weather affects how slick products feel. The drier and warmer the air (until your skin has sweat on it) makes cars feel slicker.

Yes, as Scott says. But remember, not all products feel slick right after application. OOS need a bit of time (let's say overnight) to become slicker. After it cured, it is nice. The best example is FK #1 New Car Glaze. It is nothing special immediately after application. But after a day, there is a night & day difference.

So, apply the OOS, wait half an hour, and you can apply the OID over the OOS. OIS is VERY slick!

Another interesting thing: hydrophobic coatings, which shed water like mad, often feel squeaky draggy, like absolutely bare paint. It's just a nice feeling with no functional advantage.

IMO OOS needs about 24hrs to cure and become more slick \

personally I am not inmpressed with any WOWA product but they are easy to apply on wheels and tires :-)

The lack of slickness has really kept me away from reaching for my OS. I used it on one client's vehicle, and after I finished I was so displeased by the slickness (or complete lack there of) that I went over the whole car with M26 for good measure.

Although us Autopians may realize that "something" is there, when does your customer NOT walk up and brush their hand on the paint when you finish? That is one of the key ways an average person evaluates detailing work- so for me, that rules OS out on anything but wheels and headlights (what I use it for).

Shame, because it sure is easy to use. (Usually).

Let's talk about another merger in the industry: Optimum with Durex... OMG

IMHO OOS is a wonderful product, with easy application, good protection and excellent appearance. Yes, after curing it becomes reasonably slick, totally acceptable for me (especially that it can be tuned with OID). Using it only on headlights and wheels??? That's blasphemy for me, because it'd prevent me from enjoying its wonderful look. The performance of the product is simply too good to outweigh its shortcomings.
