Is SG supposed to smell like rotten eggs?

I have noticed that my bottle of SG has an awful, rotten smell to it. I am not sure if that is normal or if the product has gone bad in the back of my car :nixweiss

Is it suppose to ? Don't know. Does it ? - Yes. I've had two bottles now and both smell somewhat 'spoiled'. But worked great !

This seems to be normal for super glaze. I posted the same question a couple years back, and as I remember most people said theirs smelled putrified. I don't know why it does this, because I don't remember it smelling badly when I first got it. I can't imagine any kind of bacteria growing in SG, but you never know...

Oh, I just did a seach and found the thread:

OK...well at least I know that I'm not the only one. Seems to work fine though - although my ability to judge such things on my sterile silver paint is not that great.

Since I am an MD I can add some bacteriologic information to the discussion. It is not a fungus...fungus is odorless unless it is superinfected with bacteria...and fungi require oxygen. If it is a bacteria it would have to be an anaerobic bacteria - since it can apparently live/thrive in an oxygen-deprived environment (closed bottle). An easy experiment would be to open up the bottle and leave it open for a few days and see if the smell goes away.

That being said, I seriously doubt that it is the result of bacterial growth. I would guess that it is just some component that has been chemically altered in some way...most likely some sulphorous compound in the mix that is either deteriorating or separating.
