Is it worth the switch DG to Optimum products

Didn't even see it on the website and figured I had to mix my own using ONR. Oh well the order I placed was not a heavy one at this time.

I honestly been on the DG stuff for quite a while and honestly I find the to be a stellar line of products. The DG stuff is a product line that has actually got me details just from people asking me what I used . Because of the nature of availability here as an OTC ( which I don't really consider DG an OTC product line ) I end up selling half the stuff off from my orders I place.

I personally feel the the spray waxes or sealant's , waterless washes ect are going to be the wave of the future for detailers and consumers by the long way they have came in the past few years .

I didn't know what it was and felt like an idiot asking.

I can make up some from ONR , but maybe not as good .

I don't even see it on the website , I'm sure Im missing it someplace.

I'd stick to Duragloss personally, but that's just me.

Well I just got my OPT. stuff , it came really fast. I'm anxious to try it , but am so sold on DG stuff it's going to have to blow me away. Right now I have 601/105/AW on my personal vehicle (metallic gray 06 4Runner) . In the past I've topped with 111 , but have not done it this time .....yet.

I have tried the OPT. tire shine on my wifes Escape to see what it looks like and it's ok looking , BUT personally I like the DG tire/matte dressing. Repels rain , dirt , ect.... but the tires are nice and flat black which is what I like. Perfect tire dressing for my taste .

I will def. be experimenting more with the OPT.

I tried a different technique on the other tires and spraying my applicator then wiping the tires , seems more of a matte finish.

As far as the opti-bond II , I tried to keep my order as cheap as possible and try to see if I like the results first.

Heres a deal for you....polish your hood...use AW on one side...OCW on the other side...nothing eles...do your weekly wash...and see what lasts longer....

then if you have a plastic black bumper use Opt protectant on one side...DG 201 on the other side...again wash as usual...

and then use 201 on front tires..opt tire shine on the rear..or vice versa...see whats lasts...

if the DG stuff quits before the Opt I will buy it from you...

I have bought the new Opt stuff and did this my self already...I do like the OID...its a nice QD ..but the OCW does not seem much better than the older stuff...a few washes and rain its flat....

the protectant on side trim dies fast...

you have nothing to lose...I do if you decide on Opt....

Fair enough..I just think that DG has some very durable products that last and not needed to be applied weekly ..

OK AL , you win !! lol I followed what you suggested and yes there was a substantial difference in look / durability / wetlook / depth. My friend who own a chain of touchless carwashes was give me free washes about every other day to see how they would stand up to the harsh soap. The AW did well on the hood , so did the tires.

Sorry you wont be getting my DG stuff :)

Well I knew it would....I have two test hoods out back..I use them to test products I buy...the sprinklers hit it daily....I wash them 2 times a week...they get rained on...

Now I just bought the new version of UPP polycharged....to see if it holds up against the DG Track Claw I just got....both have a nice look and super slick....so will see who lasts the longest...

Glad it worked out for you....

Al,

What polish(es) and compound(s) do you pair with your DG products? thanks.

jd

I use Menzerna....3M (05933 and 05937 and UF)....1Z High gloss polish....presta UCCL....Megs M105 &M86 (just started using this)..... Hi Temp......and a few others....

to me a good polished paint can make turtle wax look good...a LSP only looks as good as the polished paint does...it just amplifies it .....

Thanks!! I wasn't looking in that area as Al said use it on the tires. Was that a typo?

Not sure but AL is like the Duragloss god. So if he says it will work, it will work.

yes it works on tires....like a champ....spray it on spread with a foamie....let dry....also great on trim plastics..dash...door panels....window rubbers...nice stuff..not a oil base product...water based polymer product...has a cologne smell to it...but goes away fast....

the rubber/mat dressing would be my second choice....for tires.....

Al, got a question. The other day I had a senior moment and used my 501 instead if the 601. Looked so good I did the entire car. Then did 601 followed by 105. Question is did the 501 inhibit the performance of the 601 and 105?

no....I do 501 to deep clean the paint....then I do either 105..or 601 then 105 over the 501....

501 has a super look to it....and tuff as nails....went all winter on the roof of the CRV ...slickness was fallen off..but the beading after a spring wash was present...

so your ok....
