Is it common or did I get a bad one?

Just got a chance to use my recently aquired Griots 6" R/O and I find the power cord to be very inferior. The cord is typical ex China electrical cord that is stiff , plasticy and has a memory.

I even stretched it out in the sun for 2 hours and it still wouldn't lay out straight.

These memory kinks result in the cord getting tangled around your ankles and also hang up under the tires etc.

My intention is to bring this to thier attention but I wanted to see if I have a "one of"

The 2 Porter Cables I have both have very flexible cords ... the UDM I got when they came out also had a cheap stiff power cord but it died so often it didn't matter lol .

Unless you got a bad one, or they changed the cord they use now, I've not had an issue with my 3 yr old Griots. Cord is as limp as my D*&^.

I'd contact Griots or the place you bought it and ask for a replacement.

Purchased mine in January and the cord is the only thing I'm not happy about -- same issues as Jesstzn--perhaps purchase date has something to do with it as they may have switched to a cheaper cord.

I just got mine a little over a week ago. It didn't straighten out perfectly, but I haven't had any issue with it twisting up or anything once I started using it.

Are these less-than-swell cord the standard length or the 25' ones? Haven't noticed any shortcomings with my 25 footer.

I looked at mine again. It does have some memory in the spots where it was folded over pretty tight, but it doesn't cause any issue with twisting yet. Mine is the 10 foot cord. I see it has the name Yong Kang Shengda on it.

Both of mine are pretty much the same way, they'll tangle up in whatever way they want, I keep having to straighten them out, so I'd say it's normal. I have the 25' ones.

Isn't that sad tho ... we now accept cheap crap as normal.

Griots market thier stuff as top shelf and to get a top quality cord would prolly cost $0.50 more.

Too many companies have things made to an engineering or electrical spec but don't go the next step and specify the quality.
