Is durability really that much of an issue?

I find it interesting (and I'm glad to see) that this thread hasn't prompted any responses like "any *true Autopia* waxes so frequently that durability doesn't matter".

I like not having to redo the beaters very often (in fact, one big job per year is plenty) and with numerous vehicles to deal with, why SURE durability matters to me. Lotsa things to do besides waxing cars....

As Accumulator says, durability is a BIG issue for our daily drivers. I am still in that eternal quest mode trying to find something that beads for more than a month or two. At this point, I believe the Klasse routine is the best I have seen from an appearance and beading perspective. I started a new routine this past weekend with an application of AIO+IW.

While I enjoy polishing my cars..and probably do it more often than "needed".....I would agree that durability is important.

When I apply polish/wax, I always think that this thin, sacrificial layer is all that is between my paint and the elements. (Today's nasty pop-up t-storm is just one reason)

The sun, number of times you wash, temperature, etc all beat on the wax and vary how long it will last. In my opinion, the more durable, the better protection you get.

On my car, durability isn't an issue. I wax it so often that i'm not even sure what's on there at any given time..

However, I also do a lot of 'pity waxes' on friends and family members cars. On these cars, durability is key, as i'd hate to have to redo their cars every weekend. I assume this is the same for pro detailers who are working on clients cars...
