Hi everyone,

My girlfriend Liz's birthday is coming up in about two weeks and I'm on the hunt for a nice couple of gifts. I already have some stuff in mind, but she's had her heart set on an iPod which her parents are getting her.

I wanted to get some cool accessories for it but I was blown away when typing in "ipod" on ebay and getting 10's of thousands of results. Where do I start?!

So, Detail City'ers, what do you all suggest?

Thanks in advance :).

Hey Sean,

I pod is a great investment! You don't have to worry about CD's getting ripped off. The list goes on!

1. If she wants to listen to this in her car and doesn't have an aftermarket radio (prefrably alpine) Get a WIRED FM modulater if you need more details I can provide!
2. Case. Don't want to drop that precious toy. I have one from Marware Made of neoprene its great. I have a little thing that I mounted to my dashboard (it was tough to actually go through with it)

Thats about it.

Maybe if her computer doesnt have a firewire card you could get one of those ..(they are fairly in expensive .. and makes transfering songs a lot easier.

If you want to get her some music. or a Gift certificate for some music Check out www.allofmp3.com Great place to download music they charge $0.02 per MB of transfer so an entire CD is about $0.85 to down load .. its great!

Enjoy!!

For a quick and dirty FM modulator that's interchangeable between different cars - the Monster iCarPlay.

A nice case would be cool. It will keep it from getting beat up to quickly.

Some nice and comfortable earphones would also be nice.

Sean, I just went throught this whole ordeal with my iRiver H10 since I have been using Napster for a while now and like the $12.95 flat "To Go" rate as opposed to $1 per song, not to bash all of the iTunes freaks. The FM modulator is nice if the player is going to be transferred between vehicles but sacrifices on sound quality, on the other hand hardwiring using Monster Cable mini-jack to RCAs provides much better sound quality for half the price, the downfall is that the head unit has to have an AUX setting and taking the cables from one vehicle to another is a PITA (so 2 or more sets is an idea). Another accessory that you can look into are nice headphones, Etymotic has some nice sound isolating phones that deliver amazing sound, the ER6 (which I bought) and ER6i (same as mine but in white to match the iPod). They are pricey at around $100 but cNet has them rated higher in sound quality than other competitive headphones from Shure (that come with an even higher price tag). Other than that a carrying case as mentioned is a nice idea to keep the player safe and possibly a secondary battery is the player if going to see some real heavy useage. One final thing you may want to look into would be a docking station that comes with portable speakers, JBL makes one. All of the things I mentioned except for the Eytmotics are available from Crutchfield.com. And good luck narrowing it down, nearly every company out there makes some form of iPod accessory to choose between.
