So I had a little crack in my iphone 3g screen and decided to buy one of those screen replacement kits. Yesterday I followed the directions to the T after watching youtube videos and some PDA website videos. After I got it all back together I discovered the phone had turned itself back on while I was working on it. The touch screen didn't respond. I took it apart and reconnected the connectors. The screen is now all white and when you squeeze the phone you get little bits of icons in rainbow colors on the screen. So I've thrown that out.
So my question is as follows. Does anyone have experience with buying an iphone 4 and doing a "jailbreak" and "unlock" so that it can be used on their carrier? I figure this is my best option. I can buy a used one for $350. I'd rather pay that and figure out the jailbreak and unlock thing myself, considering my cell company wants $650 for one.
