Interior Vibrations

Just wondering besides being so particular about paintwork, do you guys are also particular about interior vibration noise? I find it at times hard to keep our car 100% noise free. No matter how careful you use, there'll be slight vibration behind the dashboard, door panels, etc...



Please share your view...thanks!
 
Am I ever! I told a story a while back about my ripping apart my Carrera to find a noise. Nothing drives me more batty!

The noise was coming from a fuse which had been dropped within a frame member underneath the drivers seat. I had to drill a hole, catch the fuse and pull it out. I then plugged the hole.

I'd like to try and hunt down those noises in my car, but they either: a) have eluded tracking down b) go away before I remember to look at them c) originate from my 10+ year old struts... :o



Things I've heard of people using to get rid of such noises include self-adhesive sound dampening (like Dynamat) and double sided tape.
 
I have the problem of rattling noise ('ticking' sound) coming from the top corner of the door panel. Without opening up the door panel, I inspected how the noise is made. I think it's due to the metal hook of the door panel, which is not clamping the door body tightly. What I'm going to do later is to stick some insulation tape on the metal hook so that it won't create the 'ticking' noise when it's in contact with the door body. There are roughly 2 to 3 metal hooks on each door panel. One of the reasons it's not tight, in my opinion is because I had my windows tinted all round, the installer might had flexed the metal hook when he was trying to take out the door panel.

They drive me insane. But I find most little ticking noises are caused by either a plastic or metal suface touching another plastic or metal surface. Like 'zey' mentioned, it's usually a case of just putting a bit of tape between the two offending surfaces.



I have a little ticking noise that comes from the hinge on my passenger side 'sun vizor'. I pull it down and put it back up, that tends to cure it for a couple of days. I'll get round to lubricating it one day!



When I actually know what's causing the noise I don't mind too much, it's when you have no idea where the noise is coming from that drives my crazy! I find myself banging my dash with my fist whilst driving along to try and stop the rattle or ticking noise - other motorists must be thinking strange things about me! :p



If I was lucky enough to own a 911, I'm not sure I'd have the stomach to go to the lengths the Brad has gone to. Respect to that man! :bow
 
Alright, just solved my rattling noise problem. What causes the rattling noise was due to the contact between plastic and metal. If Hyundai could ever add extra pieces of sponge on the door panel, then this kind of problem will not exist. It won't cost much right? So, what I did, was to add a strip of 1.5" thick soft sponge on the door panel. This will fill up the gap between door panel and the metal, and hence prevent the rattle. Alternatively, if you can afford, Dynamats are the good ones for major sound insulation.
 
Any of you are also experiencing the clicking sound made from the glass channel with the door frame?
