I was browsing the net, minding my own business. I saw this quote in reference to the new 205 "Its the real deal..Best polish ever made...Bar none" That quote was from someone affiliated with Meguiars for what thats worth..I guess the "hype" has begun! Are you going to try it?

Was the declaration very far off the mark? I am interested to hear whether you believe M205 to be:



1. A favorite of yours. :woot:



2. A product you are still "on the fence" about. :hm



3. An evil, evil foe! :wall

I agree, but 205 has much more cut than any of those three. Like, easily 4-5x as much cut, in my experience. In terms of cut:finish I'd say 205 is right up there with 105. I use it a lot and like it, it's easy to work with, finishes very well on most paints and still has enough cut to get rid of 105 marring, which FP, FPII, 106/8rd do not. I still use the menz's to finish a lot of the time, but I expected that.

I'll admit I'm a 205 fanboy myself. Skepticle at first but gave it a try and oh boy! it does the job. bar none. Finish 205 with some UF and you have a finish that is extreamly hard to beat.

Exactly, I find that I can now do a full correction in two steps MOST of the time, using M105 via rotary and M205 via DA. While this has its place, like you mentioned UF can leave a slightly better and glossier finish, but I leave that "jeweling" step to the people who want to pay for it. Otherwise it is not necessary most of the time.

Yeah, add me to this camp too. Yeah, I know, I'd previous posted some *strong* skepticism about this.



But then I played around a little bit following M205 with Menzerna, and yeah...OK, I'm convinced. I just can't quite get the same level of gloss with M205. It's not *bad* or anything, but the Menzerna just pops it up a little bit. Never thought I'd say that, but seeing is believing.



No it's not *necessary*, but the diff *is* there, at least IME. Not something I'll always bother with (or even *want* in every case), but the option will always be in the back of my mind now.



This, BTW, is via Flex/Cyclo/PC, confirming everything with Prep Wash/IPA wipes.

May I make a recommendation for final finishing with M205 via random orbital?

Lots of super-experienced guys here so I do not wish to come across as a know-it-all, because I certainly do not! :nervous2:



This is what works best for me:



PREP:

• For final finishing with M205, use a fresh pad. Prime the pad thoroughly by rubbing M205 in with your hand. Make sure there are no dry spots on the pad face.



• Let it sit for a few minutes- this will allow the liquid to permeate the foam.



• Before using, press the pad face into a microfiber towel, use a slow speed setting, and turn the machine on. Let it run for 5-10 seconds while you work the towel against the pad. this will remove most of the "loose" abrasive grains, while applying a very thin coating to the foam structure.



• Apply five or six small dots of M205 to the pad.



POLISH:

• Apply using FIRM or SOLID pressure, use a speed setting in the low range. Ideally, the machine should be able to spin the pad a small degree- any amount will do. The goal is to keep the pad from "flat-spotting". We are not looking for speed- we just want slow and consistent movement of the pad. If the pad is spinning anything amount over 2-3 times per second, slow the speed setting even more. This is generalized because I have no idea which pad type or size you will be using, nor do I know how it will work on the paint type you are polishing.



•*Do NOT lift up on the pressure near the end of your cycle.



• Do NOT do lots of passes- too much use during an application cycle could load the abrasive material and pad with abraded paint residue, which can then cause micro-marring.



• If at all possible, use compressed air to blast the pad face clean before applying more M205.



• If marring persists, try a test spot by hand to ensure M205 is not marring the surface (use a microfiber applicator pad, microfiber towel, or foam applicator pad to apply. If there is no marring present, then perhaps a different polishing will work better.



Other than that, there will likely be times that M205 will not work as well as another product, but this should be a very rare occurrence. It has no built-in super-durable fillers like Ultrafina, so what you see is what you get.



Before it starts... that is NOT a stab against Ultrafina! :bat

I wouldn't to more aggressive than orange light cut foam with M205. It's a *finishing* polish after all. I wouldn't have even thought to use it with the orange had ebpcivicsi not recommended it, previously I only went as aggressive as the *Griot's* orange foam.
