Well here's a hint. It's an invasive species, not native to the Great Lakes, which explains why it received multiple stab wounds after this picture was taken! :sign

To give you a sense of scale, that leaf on the "thing's" tail (lower left) is probably 1-1.5" long.

YES! These ugly things are running up the rivers here to spawn. Since my job deals with invasive species in the Great Lakes, I knew exactly what they were, and promptly put on my hip boots and grabbed my large minnow net. I saw 6 swimming, and caught 6.



The last thing any of them saw/felt was a Cabela's multitool.
