Interesting Observation On Autopians... Including Myself

Here's two cars, "topped" exactly the same. In this case "topper" means AIO, 2x SG, and P21S.

Both cars have beautiful, deep shines.

However, in person, the side by side comparison of the 2 year old Carrera and the 12 year old Miata shows the difference in original paint quality and film build. The Porsche was simply blacker. Had I polished the Miata any more to gt the same depth, I'm sure I would have compromised the clearcoat.

So, I stopped parking my Miata next to $100,000 cars! Seems to be working fine!

Wow, nice insights on my silly post hehe...

It's so true though... Usually if a black car comes in the shop, it's super swirled like this E30 BMW we received yesterday.

after compounding and polishing it... it looked like this

with AIO, SG

The topper made the surface look BETTER by filling in even finer gaps creating an even smoother surface, but by itself, I doubt the E30 would even come close to what the post-polishing surface would look... And to think that the polish and compounds are cheaper than the K twins...

Perfect example of getting no respect....you didn't even mention the name of the compound & polish, only the AIO & SG :D

Haha... True.. I used Eagle One Heavy Duty Compound (Proline), DACP then Final Polish (Menz)... Good point Eric :P

Edit: Lake country yellow pad and 3M Waffle pad... with Makita rotary hehe.
