Interesting idea/possible Grit Guard replacement?

I was reading the forums on Meguiars online and came across a review for their Versa-Angle Wide Body Brush where somebody was asking about how they would remove all dirt particles from the brush. Well, evidently while the brush will fit into a 5 gallon bucket, it won't reach the Grit Gurad at the bottom to clean the bristles off.

After seeing that, I remembered a bucket insert that painters use to load their rollers when using a 5 gallon bucket of paint. After a quick scan of the Home Depot site, I came across this: Linzer 5 Gallon Paint Bucket Grid.

Now I know it is made of cheap metal, and will probably rust after a few uses, but at $1.79, it wouldn't hurt the wallet to replace it every few car washes. I may pick one of these up to use in my rinse bucket, it would be great especially when the car is very dirty and I want to make sure all of the dirt is removed from my washmitt/brush.

Has anybody tried this? I'll post back when I get a chance to use it (probably this weekend).

The benefit of the grit guard is that the sections

are segregated. This is suposed to keep the

dirt from being agitated as you clean your mitt

off in the bucket.

This is not to say your idea does not have

merit. It's just that I think the grit guard may

be just a little more thoughtful of a design.
