Interested in zaino, unsure if z aio is the way to go?

I am interesting in using zaino but am unsure if z aio is the way to go. It seems like the feedback that I am getting about the aio is that is more agressive in general compared to other aios such as klasse.

Based off of the zaino website, I need to use aio in order to use z-2 or z-5. Is the aio ok to use regularly? I do not need any sort or swirl correction but I do feel a paint cleaner such as kaio is needed. My questions are is z aio really that abrassive to the point that I should fear using it 4 times a year? If so, what else can I do here that will help me clean the paint before I apply the rest of the zaino line?

Thanks

1. You do not need Z-AIO to use before Z2 nor Z5. Any painter cleaner/IPA wipe down will work.

2. I feel as though Z-AIO is not nearly abrasive enough to even think about using it too much. :)

3. Or you can get a paint cleaner that has no abrasives in it to clean the paint before Zaino.

i could be wrong, but the zaino process doesn't account for paint correction and i see it more as a range of sealants. for ' paint correction ' they pitch z5 which really only hids swirls and doesn't correct them.

if i were to use zaino i would use a traditional polish like menzerna for paint correction. once that step is complete i would do an IPA wipe down to clean the paint of any oils, etc. then do a z2 / zfx layering using z6 as recommended. then z8 as a monthly maintenance.

if you think you don't need correction, they you should be able to do a wash using a high concentration of car shampoo, followed w/ an IPA wipe down. then layer z2 and z5 using zfx and z6 as recommended by zaino, then z8 as a monthly maintenance.

You don't need to use it but it is an easy way to clean and prep your paint for Zaino.

If you use ZFX with your Z2 or Z5 then all you really need is a squeaky clean surface like stiffdogg06 mentioned. If you don't use ZFX then Z-AIO is recommended by Zaino for the first application because it acts as a bonding agent (according to Zaino). If you're going to clean and prep your paint anyway then Z-AIO is a pretty decent product worth using.

It's OK to use on a regular basis. If you car ever does need some minor swirl correction then try some Z-PC if you want to stay in the Zaino line.

I have 2005 TL, and Z-AIO is not aggressive towards my paint.

I find that XMT 360 to be more aggressive.

Would 360 be something he should use? I thought XMT 360 had glaze/filling abilities. I don't he'd want that when applying Zaino.

well, if it really isnt abrasive and does next to no correction i dont see a problem with using it.

Basically, I can simply wash/clay/layer z2 or z5 with fx as needed? Is the zaino line going to give me the gloss and shine by itself as it seems like a glorified sealant to me. Do I have to use z6 inbetween layers as well as fx?

Both of my cars are white, a 328i and mazdaspeed3. z2 or z5?

That was the plan, was unsure if I was going to use aio, fx, or both. I will be doing this in 85-95 degree heat most likely. Will this have any side effects on zaino?

Thanks guys.

ZAIO is optional on a properly prepped surface. ZFX if multiple layers in a day.

ZAIO is a very good product and there is a use for it in my detailing lineup.

One of the cars currently has 1zmp/845. Will claying be enough to remove this? Should I do the whole dawn soap thing?

I'd use Z-AIO to prep that surface since 845 is pretty durable. FYI, ZFX is something you mix with the Z2 or Z5 to allow faster curing and up to 3 layers in one day. The heat shouldn't hurt as long as you're not in the sun.

I use Z-AIO as I am not always machining the paint before applying a fresh application of Z2. It does a superb job of cleaning the paint IMHO, especially when used with a finishing pad on the UDM, as well as giving quite a good look by itself. It's expensive but I use so little that it is still good value. The only downside for me seems to be that it takes longer to dry than Z2, so can slow down the process a little.

If the paint is already clean then IPA wipeover and straight to Z2.

You could use Z-AIO everyday and not risk your paint's finish. It is a chemical paint cleaner, very mild abrasive, and sealant.

As long as your paint is bare (Dawn wash or IPA wipedown) or polished with Z-AIO or Z-PC, you can use Z2 or Z5 Pro.

I keep meaning to pull the trigger on my Zaino order...I even had everything in the cart yesterday, and backed out. You'd think I'm buying a new car or something. Haha.

I really like Zaino over Werkstat Prime (both Strong and Acrylic versions). I don't have any ZAIO, so I can't comment. I think the look is decidedly better than the same Zaino over KAIO that I used before (yeah, I know I use everything except what I'm "supposed" to.) Zaino Z2 has both a brighter and wetter look than Z5. My experience. Z5 darkens paint if you like that. I have both and always use Z2, though I don't own a black car. I have never seen any difference with or without ZFX. It's super-durable without it. I have some ZFX and rarely use it.

LOLOL I backed out one time but thats cuz I couldn't decide what I wanted...

Redem: It would help all of us to make better and more accurate suggestions if we knew the model, year, and COLOUR of your vehicle(s). Also the general condition of the finish(s).

I've never had any problem with Z-AIO and use it as a base for Z-2 and/or Z-5 on each of the cars listed below.

Each fall, I generally re-evaluate and do what I believe necessary beyond frequent Z-7 washs and applications of Z-8. Occasionally. I start all over on one with a Dawn wash, vinegar rinse, and progress all the way with AIO concluding the next day with Z-CS and Z-8. But my cars range from a black Excalibur, red Buick Reatta, and a silver Lexus LS430. My wife just added to our menagerie a Naples Gold Honda CRV SE which will get the whole 9 yards within the next couple of months. The 1985 Quantum Synchro will be disappearing from our drive way this fall (sold, donated, or given to a family member or friend).
