getting ready to start some contracts and I am pretty sure some will ask for insurance(for their own security) so now that's got me thinking if I shoould look locally or online. Suggestions......!?!?!?!

Contact an independant insurance agent and get some advise/quotes? Try to have them give you a Travelers Insurance quote.

You will want to look at both General Liability (covers something like if a client were to trip over your buffer cord) as well as Garage Keepers (covers the car itself while it is in your care - even if you are mobile, the car would be "in your care" while you worked on it).

In regards to General Liability, most people start with quotes at $300,000 and go up to the millions. Before you select a coverage amount, you need to think about where you will be working. If you ever plan on working on a dealer's lot (if a client is having you detail a car prior to them taking delivery), or apartment or hotel parking lots, some of these type places typically require anyone working on their property to carry a certain dollar amount in General Liability coverage (typically $1,000,000).

I work at an HVAC parts house during the week, but wash and detail on weekends. I've already let some contractors know the services I will offer but some have asked for insurance and others for a proper bill. I only want to cover myself and one car

It's all underwritten per your "exposure". I think a person doing mobile detailing part time:nervous: work can get a policy for $500-$1000/year.

I pay about 700 a year but mine is unnusually low for some reason... could it be cus my my nationwide leases my from my dads building? haha

I pay about $900/year im mobile covers what I need it to cover, dont want to deal with stuff if something happens, never needed to use it but very good to have, you never know

i pay about 2200 a year. covers me, any one who is working with me, any car i work or drive up 600,000 and also insures my business property up to 2 million. covers fire, theft of equipment, loss of income in event of fire or natural disaster, and any customers on my property or cars i work on or drive. i provide pick up drop off service to local customers. its expensive but i would rather pay a little now than to pay later and loose everything. especially in cali. every one wants to sue you for some reason. let me know if you are in cali, my guy has written a few policies for members on here. really great guy.

Travelers is the largest commercial insurer in the world and is very competitive. Don't just shop price, but how thier claims process works in case you ever need to file a claim.

Being a South Florida resident as well has taught me this lesson. During the hurricane season of 2005 I watched Progressive, and Gieco handle their claims like they should...the rest of the insurance companies just kinda went..:work:

In regards to auto insurance coverage, Progressive and Geico have to be about tied for the worst out there (Allstate being a close second). But, you're right, people never realize what's involved with their policy/coverage until they have to use it!
