Insurance Issue

Thomas- The way I understand my policy, I am covered for pretty much anything while the car is in my possession. The exception is terrorism because I declined the coverage.

Not sure how you declined it. According to our insurance companies its a Federal Law that it be attached.

I am not in the insurance business. The agency gave me the option to accept or decline. I declined it because I felt it was not neceessary. I believe the law stipulates that the insurance company attaches it, but not that the insured must accept it.

Who handles your policy? How much do you pay per year?

I got it through a local agency. The actual insurance company is Burlington Insurance Company. The first year I paid over $2000. The second year, with no claims, I paid aprox. $1400.

I originally received a quote from Burlington when I was doing the leg-work myself. I also received a quote from Nautilus but they were unable to insure me for enough. Shortly thereafter I hooked up with my broker and signed a policy paying about 20% less than B.I.C. quoted. My rates with SafeCo have dropped close to 15% each year, three years consecutive. HTH.

You guys should get a quote from a Travelers agent. Their the #1 commercial insurer in the country and I'll bet their competitive.
