What did you guys end up doing? Wash & Wax?

Also, tell me more about your background detailing. Have you always catered to dealers? And beside washes, what other services are you doing for them? Are you only mobile or do you have a fixed location too?

huh? What's that they ask, and you can sell from them on.

That's damn good... those folks at the dealership need some kind of line like that. And I'm not saying it's a 'bad' line... I've giving you props for that!

I would do a "double take" when you said that too. Because, I for one, have never heard that... or anything near it. Brilliant!

It's got the right kind of jumbleness (not a word) and nonsensical about it... but it rings true if you can make it happen... which, no doubt you can.

I did the math last night.

If I paid the two workers minimum wage,

I would've made 37 extra dollars.

140 for 5 hours would be closing on 30 an hour.

If I had a boss that paid me 14.50 an hour for hard work,

I would be excited for the future.

As I have said before, this is an overlooked sector that has

unlimited potential. You can use my business model and

charge whatever you want. Just remember that my angle

for profits is weekly service. I want it cheap enough so that

it is reasonably affordable every week or two.

I am on the cusp of great success, which does make me defensive.

I do not want to brag about the money that I make. However,

it is unbelievable without financial proof.

Imagine this. The profits previously portrayed in this thread,

was for 30 cars (29 really). Now factor in that there is a dealership

That wants all 250 cars on their lot done weekly. Can we

say cha ching? That one lot would fill my schedule. The other

four lots that I work for would make a steady month.

I say steady, but I really only mean busy until I get some

additional teams working. 5 teams cleaning more than 150

vehicles in 5 hours. I dig it.

So if you get a lot with 250 cars, you're going to need more people since 3 people wouldn't be able to go full speed and even at your goal speed from another thread (3 minutes per car) it's 12.5 hours to finish the lot.

My question is, if you do get, say 3 more teams so that each team is doing around 63 cars and you're finishing in 3 hours, does your profit go up, down, or remain pretty close to the same?

What kind of impact would that have on your business? I'm assuming that having 11 employees plus yourself would take a bit more book keeping and cost you a little more than having 1 full time and 1 part time employee.

Just curious here.

just to break it down for you....

103.5/5=$20.70 per hour

103.50*15%=$15.53 for taxes at the end of the year = 103.50-15.53 = $87.97

said $2 per car for supplies from other thread - 29cars x $2 = $58

so that 87.97 YOU made less the supply cost of $58 leaves you with just 29.97

Don't forget now that you are a legit company with employees you have to pay taxes and INS roughly $3 per hour (workmans comp, INS, etc) for the 8 total hours = $24 dollars

Total take home = $5

Congrats, you just worked for $1 per hour!

This is why your business model doesn't work! Take YOURSELF out of the equation and replace with another person and you actually LOST money for the day!

I don't think you are going to keep anyone around for part time work to make 30 bucks a day. The minute someone else offers them 50-60 per day they are out and you will have to find new people and spend the time to retrain! Its better to train for quality than hire for quantity. Maybe train ONE employee to be a manager and he trains the rest???

Oh boy.....

If you have 20 teams of 3, you should be making more than 200$ per hour imho. The juice needs to be worth the squeeze. You will have a bottleneck in how many you can manage before you need assistant managers and leads, which all cost more than gophers running around the lots.

I'm not saying your plan can't work. But you'd better plan on how you will afford to manage, schedule, dispatch, insure, ect. 60+ people.

I think your too optimistic in regards to your employees. I think the business model is certainly do-able, but for it to be effective you will need to expand which is part of your plans. I just think you are not being realistic in regards to future employees. If you had 20 different employee teams, how do you keep them all motivated? How can they take pride in their work for such a simple task? How do you manage them so that they are staying efficient and not burning through your profits? You have to factor in that as you expand, your efficiency WILL take a hit. Unless of course you hire assistant managers or others to manage the separate teams, which will drive costs up. Just some food for thought.

who are the "amateurs who think they can run their mouth all the time"

Point blank I showed you that your business model doesn't lead to real profits.

so because someone is disagreeing with you, he is running his mouth???? WOW.

Thanks for wasting my time....er, I think I wasted my own time here proving that there is no profit in $10 wash and wax jobs...
