Insulator Wax Durablilty Update!

Yeah, the reply I got from Collinite was " Though both products (#885 & #870) somewhat share the same name, they are different in how they perform. The #870 cleans & waxes all in one application and is not recommended for use on clear coats. The #885 is a pure paste wax that does not contain any cleaner and is excellent for use on clear coats."

most waxes aren't known for long lasting slickness-as long as it still beads you know its there. If you want slickness use a QD over it.

Its not holding up so good outside. Then again, no waxes do. Beading is definatly still there, but slickness is gone.

Are you talking about how good it looks or about it's durability when you mention "its not holding up so good outside."??

If beading is "definately" still there as you mentioned, then the durability factor is fine.

Sounds more like a looks issue than a durability issue.

FWIW, IW wasn't intended to be a beauty treatment given the reason for it's development.

well my entire car just got the treatment. we'll see how long it lasts. i'm pretty impressed by the beading... and the truck we just detailed on friday doesn't have any water spots even after 2 days or morning dew. looks great though. i followed PO106FF w/ the insulator wax... and didn't see much difference in gloss. i also applied the wax using a glazing pad. easy to remove.

Yesterday I did my dad's silver x5 with ssr2.5, AIO, 476, then IW. I will have him report the durablilty on this daily-driven, never garaged car.

Even the most hyped sealants go down in slickness after a few weeks. But as the others mentioned, the trademark of the collinite waxes is their beading.... and it will take a few weeks more to make it go down. Appearance should be the same, as the only thing that goes down is the slickness.

They actually have 845 in stock at the Advance Auto Parts closest to me. I've looked for it in tons of AAP's down here and they never have it. I'm going to give this stuff a shot in the very near future.
